A key highlight of the project is the transformation of the Mandiri Nala into a covered box drain with a modern road constructed above it.

Infrastructure details include:

  • 1289-metre-long box drain
  • Two-lane road constructed above the covered nala
  • Six culverts built for smooth water flow
  • Drainage system designed for six major catchment areas

Officials said the upgraded system will significantly improve water drainage during monsoon seasons.

Traffic Relief and Urban Development Push

The project is designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow across central Patna.

Expected benefits:

  • Reduced traffic burden on Baily Road
  • Faster commute between major city routes
  • Improved urban mobility and road infrastructure
  • Enhanced drainage reducing waterlogging issues

The road is expected to benefit lakhs of residents across multiple wards including 25, 26, and 27.

Smart City Mission Enhances Urban Infrastructure

Under the Smart City initiative, the project also includes:

  • Road beautification work
  • Modern street lighting systems
  • Improved urban infrastructure design
  • Upgraded drainage and sanitation systems

The redevelopment aims to improve both functionality and aesthetics of the area.

Political and Development Significance

The inauguration witnessed the presence of several senior political leaders, making it a high-profile event. While the government has highlighted it as a major development milestone, political observers note that such infrastructure projects also carry electoral significance in urban constituencies.
