Patna: A major infrastructure upgrade worth ₹115 crore has been inaugurated in the city with the completion of the Mandiri Nala Road Project, also known as the Naveen Kishore Sinha Path, aimed at improving drainage and easing traffic congestion in the capital.
The project, executed under the supervision of Patna Smart City Mission, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary along with BJP national president Nitin Naveen.
New Road to Improve Connectivity Across Key Routes
The newly developed corridor is expected to significantly improve connectivity in Patna by linking major arterial roads.
Key connectivity benefits include:
- Direct link between Nehru Path (Baily Road) and Ashok Rajpath
- Reduced traffic pressure on Baily Road
- Improved access to JP Ganga Path and PMCH route
- Better connectivity for multiple urban wards
The road is expected to streamline movement between North Bihar and key parts of the city.

Modern Drainage System Built Over Covered Nala
A key highlight of the project is the transformation of the Mandiri Nala into a covered box drain with a modern road constructed above it.
Infrastructure details include:
- 1289-metre-long box drain
- Two-lane road constructed above the covered nala
- Six culverts built for smooth water flow
- Drainage system designed for six major catchment areas
Officials said the upgraded system will significantly improve water drainage during monsoon seasons.
Traffic Relief and Urban Development Push
The project is designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow across central Patna.
Expected benefits:
- Reduced traffic burden on Baily Road
- Faster commute between major city routes
- Improved urban mobility and road infrastructure
- Enhanced drainage reducing waterlogging issues
The road is expected to benefit lakhs of residents across multiple wards including 25, 26, and 27.

Under the Smart City initiative, the project also includes:
- Road beautification work
- Modern street lighting systems
- Improved urban infrastructure design
- Upgraded drainage and sanitation systems
The redevelopment aims to improve both functionality and aesthetics of the area.
