Patna: Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Bihar’s largest government hospital, is set to expand its advanced diagnostic facilities with the installation of two modern CT scan machines and one research-based MRI machine this month.
The new equipment will be installed at the hospital’s newly constructed Radiology Building, providing patients with faster, high-quality diagnostic services while also supporting medical research and advanced disease studies.
Bihar’s First Research-Oriented MRI and CT Scan Facilities at PMCH
The upcoming MRI and CT scan machines will be among the first research-oriented diagnostic facilities to be installed in a government hospital in Bihar.
PMCH Superintendent Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh said that the installation process at the new Radiology Building will be completed by the end of this month, after which patient services will begin.
He added that these advanced machines will not only help doctors in accurate diagnosis but will also support research activities related to complex diseases.
Health Minister Highlights Expansion of Modern Healthcare Facilities
Bihar Health Minister Nishant said that the state government is continuously working to provide modern and world-class healthcare facilities in government hospitals.
He stated that the installation of advanced CT scan and MRI machines at PMCH will strengthen healthcare services in Bihar and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for specialised tests.
According to the minister, the government’s priority is to ensure that people get quality treatment and advanced diagnostic facilities within Bihar at affordable costs.
New Machines to Reduce Waiting Time for Patients
The new CT scan and MRI machines will significantly increase PMCH’s diagnostic capacity.
According to hospital officials:
- Each machine will be capable of conducting more than 100 patient scans within 24 hours.
- Patients will receive faster reports compared to existing facilities.
- Waiting time for diagnostic tests will reduce significantly.
- Doctors will get quicker access to accurate reports for better treatment decisions.
To ensure smooth operations, trained technicians will be appointed through outsourcing.
Affordable Diagnostic Services Planned for Patients
PMCH Superintendent Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh said that the Bihar Medical Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL) has decided to provide manpower support for operating the MRI and CT scan facilities.
A meeting with the Rogi Kalyan Samiti will also be conducted soon to decide affordable rates for patients.
The hospital administration aims to provide advanced diagnostic services at minimum charges, ensuring that economically weaker sections can also access modern healthcare facilities.
PMCH Continues to Expand Diagnostic Capacity
PMCH has already recorded significant growth in its diagnostic services.
In June, the hospital’s pathology department successfully conducted more than 2,34,018 tests, reflecting the increasing demand for healthcare services.
With the introduction of new MRI and CT scan facilities, PMCH expects a further improvement in diagnostic capacity and aims to provide more convenient, timely and affordable healthcare services under one roof.
Bihar Government’s Focus on Advanced Healthcare Infrastructure
The expansion of diagnostic facilities at PMCH is part of Bihar’s broader effort to modernise government healthcare infrastructure.
The addition of advanced imaging technology is expected to improve patient care, strengthen medical research and enhance the ability of doctors to diagnose and treat complex health conditions effectively.
