Patna: Bihar Police has stepped up efforts to secure convictions in criminal cases, with courts awarding three death sentences and 124 life imprisonment terms in July, according to data released by the Police Headquarters.

The figures also show a sharp rise in Arms Act convictions, which doubled from 49 cases in June to 98 cases in July.

Three Death Sentences in Two Cases

The three death sentences were awarded in two separate cases involving serious crimes.

In Rohtas, Balaram Singh alias Baliram Singh was sentenced to death by the Sasaram ADJ-7 court for the rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl in the Dalmianagar police station area. The incident occurred in 2020, and police submitted the chargesheet within 15 days of registering the FIR.

In Madhubani’s Ghoghardiha police station area, a woman and co-accused Jai Prakash Mandal received death sentences from the Jhanjharpur District and Additional Sessions Court for the murder of two children. Their bodies were allegedly thrown into a river.
