Patna: Patna is set to develop the Rajdhani Reservoir into a modern eco-tourism destination, with the construction of a high-tech Nature Interpretation Centre expected to be completed by October. The project is being undertaken by the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department to promote biodiversity conservation and environmental education.
The initiative aims to transform the reservoir into a sustainable ecological zone, combining natural beauty with advanced learning and tourism facilities.
Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Education Focus
According to officials from the Patna Park Division, including DFO Piyush Baranwal, the Rajdhani Reservoir will be developed as a centre for biodiversity conservation and environmental awareness.
The project will include:
- Beautification of the reservoir area
- Development as a safe habitat for migratory and local birds
- Creation of an eco-sensitive zone
- Enhancement of bird diversity and population
Currently, around 35 bird species are found in the reservoir, including Lesser Whistling Duck, Common Moorhen, Common Coot, Gadwall, and Comb Duck.

Nature Interpretation Centre to Offer Modern Learning Experience
A key highlight of the project is the upcoming Nature Interpretation Centre, which will serve as a hub for ecological education and awareness.
The centre will provide visitors, especially students and tourists, with detailed insights into:
- Forest ecosystems
- Wetlands and biodiversity
- Wildlife habitats
- Life cycles of birds and animals
It will help visitors understand both local and migratory bird species up close.
High-Tech Interactive Features and Digital Experience
The Nature Interpretation Centre will be equipped with advanced, interactive and immersive technologies, making it one of the most modern eco-learning facilities in the region.

- Five large information panels
- Four dioramas based on national and state wildlife, including crocodile, dolphin and wetlands
- Wall murals and thematic displays
- Sound-based bird interaction systems
- Light-based interactive installations
- Holographic book experience
- Multi-sensory exhibition setups
- 12-seat 7D experience theatre
- AR-VR system with 3 VR headsets
- 360-degree immersive forest experience room
- Outdoor signage and interactive kiosks
These features are designed to create an engaging, educational, and immersive environmental learning experience.
