Patna: Patna is set to develop the Rajdhani Reservoir into a modern eco-tourism destination, with the construction of a high-tech Nature Interpretation Centre expected to be completed by October. The project is being undertaken by the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department to promote biodiversity conservation and environmental education.

The initiative aims to transform the reservoir into a sustainable ecological zone, combining natural beauty with advanced learning and tourism facilities.

Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Education Focus

According to officials from the Patna Park Division, including DFO Piyush Baranwal, the Rajdhani Reservoir will be developed as a centre for biodiversity conservation and environmental awareness.

The project will include:

  • Beautification of the reservoir area
  • Development as a safe habitat for migratory and local birds
  • Creation of an eco-sensitive zone
  • Enhancement of bird diversity and population

Currently, around 35 bird species are found in the reservoir, including Lesser Whistling Duck, Common Moorhen, Common Coot, Gadwall, and Comb Duck.

  • Life cycles of birds and animals

It will help visitors understand both local and migratory bird species up close.

High-Tech Interactive Features and Digital Experience

The Nature Interpretation Centre will be equipped with advanced, interactive and immersive technologies, making it one of the most modern eco-learning facilities in the region.

Key features include:

  • Five large information panels
  • Four dioramas based on national and state wildlife, including crocodile, dolphin and wetlands
  • Wall murals and thematic displays
  • Sound-based bird interaction systems
  • Light-based interactive installations
  • Holographic book experience
  • Multi-sensory exhibition setups
  • 12-seat 7D experience theatre
  • AR-VR system with 3 VR headsets
  • 360-degree immersive forest experience room
  • Outdoor signage and interactive kiosks

These features are designed to create an engaging, educational, and immersive environmental learning experience.

Eco-Tourism Push to Strengthen Urban Biodiversity

The project reflects a broader push by the state to promote eco-tourism and environmental conservation within urban spaces. By integrating modern technology with natural ecosystems, the initiative aims to make Rajdhani Reservoir a key attraction for tourists, students, and nature enthusiasts.

Officials believe the project will not only enhance biodiversity but also raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development.
