Bihar Education Department Launches Teacher Transfer Drive, Applications From July 29 

Education Department announces three-phase transfer process for teachers, including adjustment, mutual and general transfers with complete online and transparent procedures.

Patna: The Bihar Education Department has announced the schedule for the much-awaited teacher transfer process under the Bihar State Teacher Transfer Rules, 2026. The online transfer portal for teachers will open on July 29, and eligible teachers will be able to submit applications until August 5.

The announcement comes as a major relief for teachers across the state, with Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari confirming the start of the transfer process in July. The Bihar Cabinet had approved the new transfer policy on June 24, paving the way for the implementation of the revised system.

Bihar Teacher Transfer Process to Be Completed in Three Phases

According to the notification issued by the Education Department, the teacher transfer process will be completed in three phases:

  1. Adjustment/Proportionate Allocation (Samayojan/Samanupatikaran)
  2. Mutual Transfer (Parasparik Transfer)
  3. General Transfer (Samanya Transfer)

The department has issued a detailed timeline to ensure that the entire process is completed in a transparent and time-bound manner.

Online Portal for Teacher Transfer Applications Opens on July 29

The online portal for teacher transfers will become active from July 29, 2026.

During the application period from July 29 to August 5, teachers will be able to apply for:

  • Adjustment and proportionate allocation
  • Mutual transfer requests

The Education Department has advised all eligible teachers to submit their applications within the given deadline and follow the prescribed guidelines.

First Phase: Adjustment and Proportionate Allocation from August 7 to September 9

The first phase of the transfer process will begin on August 7 and continue until September 9.

During this phase, the department will complete:

  • Publication of transfer-related lists
  • Receiving objections and appeals
  • Reviewing and resolving appeals

The process will be handled by the concerned authorities within the scheduled timeline.

Second Phase: Mutual Transfer Process from September 10 to 14

The second phase will focus on mutual transfers of teachers.

From September 10 to September 14, district, divisional and state-level establishment committees will complete the mutual transfer process.

These committees will verify applications and take necessary decisions according to the provisions of the Bihar State Teacher Transfer Rules, 2026.

Third Phase: General Transfer Applications from September 17

The final phase will cover general teacher transfers.

The revised list of school-wise vacancies for general transfers will be published on September 16.

After the vacancy list is released, teachers will be able to select schools according to their preference and submit applications for general transfer from:

September 17 to September 23

The publication of the general transfer list, appeal process and final disposal will continue from:

September 24 to October 31

Education Department Ensures Transparent Online Transfer System

The Bihar Education Department has stated that the complete teacher transfer process will be conducted through an online and transparent system.

All district, divisional and state establishment committees have been instructed to complete their responsibilities within the specified timelines and ensure timely disposal of appeals.

The department has urged eligible teachers to carefully follow the instructions and complete the application process within the given dates.

Bihar Teacher Transfer Schedule: Important Dates

  • Online application for adjustment and mutual transfer: July 29 to August 5
  • Adjustment/proportionate allocation process: August 7 to September 9
  • Mutual transfer process: September 10 to September 14
  • Publication of revised vacancy list: September 16
  • Application for general transfer: September 17 to September 23
  • General transfer list publication, appeals and disposal: September 24 to October 31

The new transfer system is expected to streamline teacher postings across Bihar and provide a more organised, transparent and technology-based transfer mechanism for government teachers.
