Patna: Women entrepreneurs in Bihar are contributing to the state’s industrial growth by establishing businesses, creating employment opportunities and building financially independent futures with support from government schemes. From manufacturing cleaning products and running readymade garment businesses to producing bakery items, women-led enterprises are creating jobs for local communities and expanding their presence in the market.
With support from initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneur Scheme and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), women across the state are turning business ideas into successful enterprises.
The initiatives are being promoted under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh, with a focus on helping women establish and expand businesses. The journeys of Khushboo Kumari, Neetu Devi and Gudiya Kumari highlight how financial assistance, technical support and entrepreneurship training can help women build enterprises and generate employment.

Khushboo Kumari, an entrepreneur from Patna, started manufacturing cleaning products in 2022 after identifying growing market demand for these items. She launched Divine Shine Detergent and Floor Cleaner, initially investing ₹10 lakh in the business.
Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), she received a subsidy along with entrepreneurship and skill development training. With the support, her manufacturing unit expanded significantly and has now reached an annual turnover of approximately ₹1.5 crore.
Recognising the business’s performance, Khushboo received a ₹1 crore loan under PMEGP-2 in 2026, according to the information shared.
The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has also provided her with approximately 30,000 square feet of industrial land. She plans to establish a larger manufacturing plant equipped with modern and automated machinery at the site.
Khushboo aims to expand the business into Bihar, Jharkhand and other states, with a long-term target of generating employment for around 1,000 people.
At present, her enterprise provides direct and indirect employment to approximately 100 men and women locally, making it an example of how a women-led manufacturing unit can contribute to employment generation and industrial development.
