Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has reported a standalone net loss of ₹3,962.13 crore for the first quarter of financial year 2026-27 (Q1 FY27), compared with a profit of ₹6,123.93 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
Despite a strong increase in revenue, BPCL’s profitability was impacted by lower marketing margins on petroleum products, which were partly offset by improved refining margins.
The company’s revenue from operations increased 23.1% year-on-year to ₹1,59,479.28 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with ₹1,29,577.89 crore in Q1 FY26.

BPCL said the decline in quarterly earnings was mainly due to suppressed marketing margins on petroleum products.
The impact was partially reduced by higher refining margins, but volatility in the oil marketing sector affected the company’s financial performance.

The consolidated results included an exceptional income of ₹1,884.56 crore following the reclassification of Foreign Currency Translation Reserve (FCTR) gain into profit and loss after the conversion of IBV Brasil Petroleo Limitada into a subsidiary.
