Gandhinagar: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹815 crore in the Gandhinagar and Sabarkantha districts of Gujarat.
The projects include a major bridge over the Sabarmati River at Sadra, a Community Health Centre at Charada, water conservation projects, social infrastructure facilities, and other public welfare initiatives.
Addressing the gathering virtually, Amit Shah said that the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ can only be achieved through a ‘Viksit Gujarat’. He said the newly launched projects will accelerate development in the Mansa and Prantij assembly constituencies and improve facilities for residents.
Amit Shah Inaugurates ₹89 Crore Sabarmati River Bridge and Health Centre
Among the key projects inaugurated was the Aluva–Sadra Bridge, constructed at a cost of ₹89 crore.
Amit Shah said the bridge will improve connectivity for residents, students, and devotees visiting the Jakshini Mata Temple. It is also expected to boost tourism and provide easier transportation facilities in the region.
The Union Minister also inaugurated a Community Health Centre at Charada, which will provide advanced healthcare services to more than one lakh people.
The health facility includes:
- 24-hour dialysis services
- Operation theatre facilities
- NICU services
- Advanced medical treatment facilities
Development Projects to Strengthen Public Infrastructure
Amit Shah said several other projects dedicated to the people will improve civic facilities and quality of life in the region.
The inaugurated and launched projects include:
- Community Hall at Raniyapura in Mansa
- ESR water tank at Alkapuri
- Sanskar Bhavan Trust building at Bapupura village
- Healthcare and water infrastructure projects
He said these initiatives will strengthen public welfare facilities and support regional development.
Two Sabarmati River Barrages to Improve Water Availability
Highlighting the importance of water conservation, Amit Shah said two major barrages will be constructed on the Sabarmati River.
The projects aim to store water in the river for nearly eight months in areas including:
- Charada
- Mansa
- Ridrol
The barrages are expected to:
- Increase groundwater levels by 5 to 10 feet
- Benefit farmers and livestock rearers
- Improve irrigation facilities
- Support tourism and wildlife conservation
The foundation stones were laid for:
- Hirak Village Barrage: ₹413.63 crore
- Rakhiyal Barrage: ₹302.51 crore
The combined cost of these two projects is ₹716.14 crore.
Sanskar Bhavan Named After Litterateur Raghuveer Chaudhary
Amit Shah praised renowned Gujarati litterateur Raghuveer Chaudhary, who received the Padma Shri and Jnanpith Award, for his contribution to literature.
He said Chaudhary, despite belonging to a humble farmer and livestock-rearing family, achieved national recognition while remaining connected to his values.
The Sanskar Bhavan named after him will inspire future generations and promote cultural values, Shah added.
New Civil Hospital Planned for Mansa Region
Amit Shah said a state-of-the-art Civil Hospital is being developed in the Mansa region.
The hospital will reduce the need for residents to travel to Gandhinagar for advanced medical treatment.
It will work in coordination with nearby Community Health Centres to provide improved healthcare services to people.
Gujarat’s Development Journey Under PM Modi’s Vision
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the state has made significant progress over the last 12 years in sectors including:
- Infrastructure
- Rural development
- Education
- Healthcare
- Connectivity
He said development is no longer limited to cities and has reached poor, deprived, and remote rural communities.
According to the Chief Minister:
- Roads create employment opportunities
- Health centres improve public safety
- Educational facilities strengthen future prospects
He said the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has transformed rural connectivity across India.
Large-Scale Tree Plantation Campaign in Gandhinagar Constituency
CM Bhupendra Patel highlighted the state’s focus on environmental conservation.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and inspiration from Amit Shah, a large-scale tree plantation campaign has been conducted across the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.
Around 1.25 crore trees have been planted as part of the campaign, including a large number of saplings planted within a single hour through the Miyawaki method.
Healthcare and Farmer Welfare Initiatives Highlighted
Minister of State for Health Praful Pansheriya highlighted Gujarat’s healthcare improvements.
He said:
- New PHCs and CHCs have been developed at a cost of ₹1.50 crore each
- Free cochlear implant surgeries are being provided for hearing-impaired children
- More than 12,000 healthcare institutions participated in cleanliness campaigns
- Around 1,800 rooms were restored for patient care after removing unused materials
He also spoke about initiatives focused on healthcare, ecological conservation, and environmental protection.
Water and Irrigation Projects Transforming Gujarat
Minister of State for Water Resources Ishwarsinh Patel said Gujarat’s water management initiatives have transformed several drought-prone regions.
He highlighted that:
- Narmada water has helped convert dry regions into productive agricultural areas
- Dharoi Dam provides irrigation and drinking water benefits to nearly 98,000 hectares
- New Sabarmati River projects will improve water storage and availability
He said the state government is continuously working to rejuvenate the Sabarmati River and strengthen irrigation infrastructure.
Projects to Support Vision of Developed Gujarat
Amit Shah said the development projects launched in Gandhinagar and Sabarkantha will create better opportunities, improve public services, and strengthen infrastructure for future generations. The event was attended by senior government officials, public representatives, district leaders, and local representatives from Gandhinagar and Sabarkantha.
