New Delhi/Kolkata: Md Asad Alam, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Braithwaite & Company Limited (BCL), has resigned from his position on health grounds, and the Railway Board has approved his resignation with immediate effect, waiving the mandatory three-month notice period. The official communication, dated December 11 and signed by Ravi Shekhar, Joint Secretary (Deputation) of the Railway Board, instructed that Alam “may please be relieved immediately” and noted that “orders for additional charge arrangement will follow.”

Alam’s Tenure and Experience

Alam, a 1990-batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer, was entrusted with the role of CMD at BCL effective February 29, 2024. Bringing over three decades of experience in railway operations and public sector engineering, he previously served as Chief Rolling Stock Engineer (Coaching) at South Eastern Railway. His tenure at Braithwaite & Co oversaw several key manufacturing achievements and strategic initiatives, strengthening the company’s operations and market presence.
