Big reshuffles in bureaucracy at Centre, Cooperation Ministry got its first secretary

The central government has done a big reshuffle in the bureaucracy on Wednesday. Devendra Kumar Singh has been appointed the first secretary of the newly formed cooperation ministry. Singh, a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala cadre, has previously served as Additional Secretary for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Development Commissioner. The Union Government in July had announced the creation of the Ministry of Cooperation to implement the vision of ‘Sahakar Se Samridhi (Prosperity Through Cooperation)’.

Government announces 13 secretary-level appointments to fill the vacant posts. Singh is among one of them. Pradeep Kumar Tripathi, who served as Secretary, Ministry of Steel, has been moved to the Department of Personnel and Training. While Air India Chairman and Managing Director Rajiv Bansal was appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation following the retirement of Pradeep Singh Kharola.

Govind Mohan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, has been transferred and posted as Secretary, Ministry of Culture. He will replace Raghvendra Singh as he retired.

K Sanjay Murthy, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited, will be Secretary, Department of Higher Education, succeeding Amit Khare who superannuates on September 30.

K Rajaraman, Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications succeeding Anshu Prakash.

Steel Secretary Pradip Kumar Tripathi has been appointed as the Secretary, DoPT.

Anurag Jain, Vice Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority, has been appointed as the Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Sunil Barthwal, who is currently Central Provident Fund Commissioner in the Employees Provident Fund Organisation, names as the Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment. Anuradha Prasad, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment will be Secretary, Inter State Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Ansuli Arya, Administrator, Universal Service Obligation Fund, appointed as Secretary, Department of Official Language. Rajesh Aggarwal, currently Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, will be Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Lok Ranjan and Sujata Chaturvedi, both working as additional secretaries in the DoPT, will be Secretary of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Department of Sports respectively.
