Soon this October, Non-IAS officers will reach Mussoorie to the prestigious LBSNAA for the first time and get along with their peer IAS officers for a 7 day long Mid-Career Training Program (MCTP), as planned under PM Narendra Modi’s, “Mission Karmayogi”. This will be the first common MCTP program which will run at LBSNAA from October 25-31. Earlier only IAS officers used to go to LBSNAA for MCTP sessions in three different stages of service and the IPS officers to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, for the same.
As per the letter, the officers are asked to stipulate the work experience sectors acquired in their service till date and mention the work sectors they are interested in future assignments so as to seek nominations.
The serving officers of All India Services, that is IAS, IPS, IFoS and Grade ‘A’ officers of other Central Services from 2000 and 2001 batches of Civil Services will be brought together for the course for better coordination amongst the personnel of various civil services fostering intra-departmental and inter-departmental coordination. It will include officers from 45 Central Grade ‘A’ services, including the Indian Revenue Service, the Indian Audit and Accounts Service and the Central Secretariat Service.
The foundation course at LBSNAA was initially limited to a few All India Services (AIS) officers but has now been expanded and converted into a common foundation course for other services including the Grade ‘A’ services of the Centre. The culmination of the training course has since been held in the premises of the statue of Sardar Patel in Gujarat along with the participation of the Prime Minister.
According to the Government officials, the common MCTP and foundation courses will help to avoid running separate training programs for successful candidates of civil services examination. This plan is also an attempt to remove the sense of elitism associated with the IAS training.
