For the first time in history, Leh, the capital of the Union territory Ladakh will have a center for holding Civil Services Examination from this year. The next civil services preliminary examination which is scheduled for 10th October 2021 all over India will also be held in this centre for the first time.
According to an official statement, the announcement was made after Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh RK Mathur called on Union Minister of State for Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi to discuss the placement of IAS officers and other service-related matters in the context of Ladakh.
The discussion was made in regard to the addressal of a long-pending demand of the youth from the Ladakh region whose grievance was the difficulty in reaching the examination centres in other parts of the country. It is believed to be helpful for the youth in dealing with the constraints of affordability of airfare and uncertain weather conditions which they were facing earlier.
Dr Jitendra Singh also informed that monetary incentives called Special Allowances for All India Services, AIS officers belonging to North East Cadres of AIS is paid to the officers who are working in the North-Eastern Region, presently at the rate of 20 percent of the basic pay and the same has been extended to the AIS officers working in the Union Territory of Ladakh also, through an order dated 12th April, 2021.
Eventually, there was another major decision about the SSC exams. The Lamdone Online Assessment Institute Leh will facilitate Staff Selection Commission exams in computer-based mode for selection to Group B and C posts of the Union Territory of Ladakh in an efficient way as of free and fair selection based on merit for Group-B and Group-C posts in the Government departments.
