New Delhi: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), through its Vigilance Department, organised a capacity building programme on “GeM – New Features and Functionalities” to strengthen efficiency, transparency and effectiveness in procurement-related operations.
The programme focused on familiarising participants with the latest provisions, features and processes of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and providing practical insights into the evolving framework for digital public procurement.
A total of 74 participants attended the programme and took part in interactive sessions aimed at improving their understanding of GeM and enhancing efficiency in day-to-day procurement activities.
CCL Focuses on Latest GeM Features and Functionalities
The capacity building programme provided participants with an overview of the latest developments on the GeM portal.
The session covered key features and functionalities designed to support more effective handling of procurement-related activities and strengthen compliance with the prescribed procurement framework.
Participants were also given practical insights into the use of GeM for various procurement processes.

GeM Team Explains New Procurement Provisions
Suraj Sharma, Director and Nodal Officer, GeM, Delhi, along with the GeM team in Jharkhand, conducted the session and provided participants with a detailed overview of the latest features and functionalities available on the platform.
The interactive nature of the programme allowed participants to understand the practical application of the latest GeM provisions and developments.
The discussions were aimed at helping officials apply the platform’s evolving features more effectively in their procurement responsibilities.

The programme was attended by senior officials from CCL, including:

- Pankaj Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer
- Raj Kishore, General Manager (MM)
- M.F. Haque, General Manager (HRD)
Their participation highlighted the importance attached to strengthening procurement processes and ensuring greater transparency and efficiency across the organisation.

The programme also emphasised the importance of conducting procurement processes in an effective, transparent and competitive manner.
Participants were apprised of the need to ensure procurement at the best available price (L1) while maintaining the prescribed quality standards.
