New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday flagged off four Mobile Namo Shramik Seva Kendra Vans from the Delhi Secretariat under the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The mobile centres will take labour registration, renewal, welfare information and digital assistance directly to workers, reducing the need for repeated visits to government offices.
Services to Reach Workers Near Their Workplaces
The initiative is designed to make government services more accessible to construction workers and other labourers. The vans will visit construction sites, labour chowks and areas where workers are concentrated.
Workers will be able to access registration and renewal services closer to their workplaces. The vans will also provide information about welfare schemes, eligibility requirements and application procedures.
The mobile units will assist with documentation, document verification and digital services, creating a single point of support for workers who may otherwise have to travel to government offices for different requirements.

13 Vans Planned Across Delhi
Four vans have been flagged off initially, but the programme is planned to expand to 13 mobile vans, with one van for each district of Delhi.
The vans will systematically visit locations where construction workers are employed, allowing registration and other services to take place closer to their workplaces. The government has said this approach can also help workers avoid losing daily wages while travelling to distant offices.
Focus on Welfare Scheme Access
A key objective of the initiative is to address gaps in registration and awareness. Construction workers need registration with the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to access benefits under relevant welfare schemes.
The mobile centres are therefore intended not only to help with registration but also to explain available schemes, required documents and application processes.
This can make it easier for workers to understand which government services they can access and what steps are required to apply.
Gig Workers Also in Focus
The initiative is also expected to extend attention towards gig workers, including the development of rest areas and provision of essential facilities.
Labour Minister Kapil Mishra said the mobile vans would help address gaps in awareness and registration and assist workers with registrations, renewals and applications for welfare schemes.
The broader approach is to bring labour-related services closer to workers rather than requiring them to depend entirely on fixed government offices.
Part of Seva Sankalp Abhiyan
The mobile vans form part of Delhi’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which includes a range of public-service and development activities.
By taking worker registration and welfare assistance directly to construction sites and labour hubs, the initiative adds a mobile service component to the campaign.
For workers, the key change is convenience: essential registration, documentation and scheme-related assistance can increasingly be accessed closer to where they work.
