Champawat: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state government is working to develop Champawat as a model district while reiterating its commitment to balancing development with the state’s cultural heritage.
Dhami made the remarks while attending the Dussehra festival organised by the Nav Yuvak Ramlila Committee at Gandhi Maidan in Tanakpur.
Focus on Champawat Development
The Chief Minister said the government was working on planned development initiatives in Champawat as well as across Uttarakhand.

He also reiterated the government’s objective of making Uttarakhand the best state in the country.
Dhami highlighted the development of religious and cultural sites across the country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He referred to projects including the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mahakal Corridor and the development of the Kedarnath shrine.
He said work on the master plan for the development of Badrinath Dham is also progressing.
Focus on Cultural Heritage
According to Dhami, the Uttarakhand government is undertaking development activities while also working to give the state’s cultural heritage greater recognition.
He said the Kumbh Mela scheduled to be held in Haridwar next year would be organised on a large scale.
The Chief Minister also referred to the annual Maa Purnagiri fair in Uttarakhand, saying permanent lighting arrangements are being made to enable the fair to operate throughout the year. Construction of a bridge at Batnagad is also underway.
Government Highlights New Laws and Measures
Dhami said the state government had enacted laws related to preventing examination paper leaks, religious conversion and riots.
He also said action was being taken against attempts to alter the character of the state through illegal encroachment on government land.
The Chief Minister further said that madrasas are conducting their curriculum in accordance with the National Education Policy, with the aim of providing minority students education aligned with the national framework.
Before attending the event, Dhami performed a puja at the Vyas Gaddi and received blessings from storyteller Devi Divyanshi Kishori.
