Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand statehood movement on the eve of the anniversary of the Muzaffarnagar (Rampur Tiraha) incident, recalling their contribution to the creation of the separate state.
In a message, Dhami said the contribution and sacrifices of the statehood movement activists and martyrs would continue to be remembered. He said the movement for a separate Uttarakhand involved a prolonged struggle, during which several activists lost their lives.
Dhami Calls for Development in Line With Movement Aspirations
Dhami said developing Uttarakhand in accordance with the aspirations of the martyrs and statehood movement activists was a collective responsibility.

He said the state government was working towards what he described as overall, balanced and comprehensive development. According to the Chief Minister, efforts are being made to improve access to education, healthcare, roads, drinking water, employment and other basic facilities in remote hill areas.
Dhami also referred to efforts to connect youth, women, farmers and local residents with development initiatives.
Focus on Culture, Environment and Development
Dhami said the original spirit of the statehood movement should be reflected in the state’s development efforts. He called for the protection of Uttarakhand’s culture, traditions, natural resources and environment while pursuing new development opportunities.
The Chief Minister also said that the government and society would need to work together for the state’s progress. He appealed to residents to remember the sacrifices of the statehood movement’s martyrs and contribute to the development and prosperity of Uttarakhand.
