Chief Secretary Chanchal Yadav Administers Anti-Drug Pledge at ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ Campaign in Andaman & Nicobar

Chief Secretary Chanchal Yadav administered the Anti-Drug Pledge to students and youth at the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ in Sri Vijaya Puram, where around 1,000 volunteers participated in the nationwide campaign against substance abuse.

Sri Vijaya Puram: Reinforcing the commitment to a drug-free India, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration organised the district-level programme of the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ at the auditorium of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Sri Vijaya Puram, on Saturday.

The programme, conducted in collaboration with MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, youth volunteers, government officials and members of the public. The highlight of the event was the administration of the Anti-Drug Pledge by Chief Secretary Ms. Chanchal Yadav, an IAS officer of 2008 batch, who called upon the younger generation to play an active role in building a drug-free society.

Campaign Aims to Build a Drug-Free India

The event formed part of the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, an initiative aimed at mobilising young people against substance abuse while promoting the vision of a healthy, responsible and developed India.

Addressing the gathering through the pledge, Chief Secretary Chanchal Yadav urged students and youth to remain vigilant against the menace of drugs and become ambassadors of awareness in their communities. The pledge reaffirmed the collective resolve of the administration and the youth to eliminate drug abuse and encourage healthy lifestyles.

The programme reflected the Administration’s sustained efforts to create awareness about the harmful consequences of substance abuse and inspire young citizens to contribute towards the vision of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’.

Large Participation by Students and Youth

The event drew participation from a wide cross-section of society, including senior officers of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, faculty members, students from various colleges in and around Sri Vijaya Puram, MY Bharat volunteers and members of the general public.

The strong turnout highlighted growing awareness among young people regarding the importance of staying away from narcotics and supporting initiatives aimed at preventing substance abuse.

Participants Watch Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Live Address

As part of the nationwide campaign, participants also viewed the live address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has consistently emphasised the importance of youth participation in eliminating drug addiction and building a healthier nation.

The live interaction connected the local programme in Sri Vijaya Puram with similar events being held across the country under the national anti-drug campaign.

Around 1,000 Volunteers Join South Andaman Campaign

According to the Administration, the campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation across South Andaman District, with nearly 1,000 MY Bharat volunteers and young participants joining various activities under the initiative.

The large-scale participation reflected the Administration’s continuing efforts to mobilise youth against drug abuse and strengthen public awareness through community engagement, educational institutions and volunteer networks.

Officials said such campaigns are aimed at encouraging young citizens to become responsible stakeholders in creating safer and healthier communities while supporting the national vision of Viksit Bharat.

Administration Reaffirms Commitment

The district-level programme reaffirmed the Andaman & Nicobar Administration’s commitment to supporting the Government of India’s mission of a drug-free India through awareness, youth engagement and community participation.

By bringing together students, educators, volunteers and government officials under a common pledge, the initiative sought to reinforce the message that preventing drug abuse requires collective responsibility and sustained public participation.

With around 1,000 youth taking part in the campaign, the event served as another significant step towards strengthening the nationwide movement for a Nasha Mukt Bharat while empowering young people to become agents of positive social change.
