  • Time management during preparation
  • Confidence-building techniques

From IPS Officer to IAS Officer

Ms Agrawal’s civil services journey has become an inspiration for many aspirants.

She first cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 with All India Rank (AIR) 189, securing the Indian Police Service (IPS). Rather than stopping there, she appeared again for the examination during her IPS probation and achieved an even bigger milestone by securing AIR 65 in UPSC CSE 2024, earning a place in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

She belongs to the 2025 batch of the IAS and has been allotted the Jharkhand cadre.

Academic Excellence Throughout

Born on December 29, 1999, in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, IAS Agrawal has maintained an outstanding academic record throughout her educational journey.

She scored a perfect 10 CGPA in Class 10 from Kanger Valley Academy, Raipur, followed by 97.6% in Class 12 (Commerce) from DAV Public School, Bilaspur.

She later graduated with a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi, securing a 9.46 CGPA, and subsequently completed her Master’s in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Corporate Experience Before Civil Services

Before pursuing a career in public service, Ms Poorva worked as a Finance Summer Analyst and later as an Analyst at Barclays Services Limited in Singapore.

She also gained research experience as an intern with the Centre for Civil Society and actively participated in student leadership initiatives, including Enactus SRCC and the Hult Prize Foundation.

Her transition from the corporate world to the civil services reflects her commitment to public service.

Currently Undergoing IAS Training

After joining the IAS, Poorva Agrawal formally entered service in August 2025 and is currently undergoing professional training as an Officer Trainee at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. Upon completion of her training, she will serve as an Assistant Collector in the Jharkhand cadre during her probation.

Administration Encourages Students to Participate

The Hazaribag district administration has urged students preparing for UPSC, JPSC, SSC, banking, railways and other competitive examinations to attend the session.

Officials believe that interacting with a young officer who recently navigated the challenges of the UPSC examination will provide aspirants with practical insights, renewed motivation, and a clearer understanding of the preparation process.
