Ranchi: In a major boost to civil services aspirants from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, the Jharkhand Government has significantly enhanced financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Anusuchit Janjati–Anusuchit Jati Civil Services Incentive Scheme.

Under the revised scheme, eligible candidates who have qualified the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 will now receive a one-time financial assistance of ₹1.50 lakh to prepare for the Civil Services Main Examination and Personality Test. The assistance has been increased from the earlier ₹1 lakh, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting deserving aspirants from disadvantaged communities.

Financial Assistance Increased by 50%

The Department has revised the incentive amount to enable candidates to better prepare for the highly competitive Civil Services Main Examination and the subsequent Personality Test.

The enhanced assistance of ₹1.50 lakh will be provided as a one-time grant to eligible candidates who have successfully cleared the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026.

Officials believe the enhanced financial support will help candidates access quality coaching, study material, accommodation and other resources required for the advanced stages of the UPSC examination.

Income Ceiling Raised to ₹8 Lakh

In another significant reform, the Jharkhand Government has substantially relaxed the eligibility criteria under the scheme.

The annual family income limit has been increased from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹8 lakh, allowing a much larger number of SC and ST candidates to become eligible for the financial assistance.

The decision is expected to expand the scheme’s reach and ensure that more deserving aspirants benefit from government support.

Who Can Apply?

Applications have been invited from candidates who fulfil the following conditions:

  • Must be a permanent resident of Jharkhand.
  • Must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
  • Must have qualified the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026.
  • The benefit can be availed only once.

Applicants should not be receiving financial assistance under any other Central or State Government civil services coaching or incentive scheme.

Documents Required

Eligible applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  • Online-issued Residential Certificate
  • Online-issued Caste Certificate
  • Online-issued Income Certificate
  • Educational Qualification Certificates
  • UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 Admit Card
  • Proof of qualifying the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026

The department has clarified that only digitally issued certificates will be accepted during the application process.

Application Process

The application process has already commenced.

Eligible candidates can submit their completed applications up to 6:00 PM on July 31, 2026.

The duly filled application forms may be:

  • Submitted personally at the Office of the Tribal Welfare Commissioner, Ranchi, or
  • Sent through Speed Post or Registered Post.

The government has advised eligible candidates to complete the application process well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute inconvenience.

Government’s Focus on Inclusive Civil Services

The enhanced incentive scheme is aimed at encouraging greater representation of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates in India’s premier civil services.

By increasing both the financial assistance and the income eligibility limit, the Jharkhand Government seeks to reduce economic barriers that often hinder talented aspirants from pursuing quality preparation for one of the country’s most competitive examinations.

Officials believe the revised scheme will provide greater opportunities for deserving candidates while strengthening social inclusion in the civil services.
