Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday inaugurated CG Power and Industrial Solutions’ new greenfield power transformer manufacturing facility at Badiyakhedi in Sehore district and launched the rollout of its first transformer.
The facility, spread across 50 acres, is described by the company as India’s largest single-location power transformer manufacturing facility. It is designed to manufacture transformers in the 220 kV to 1200 kV class and has a production capacity of 35 transformers a month.
The plant was established with an investment of about ₹888 crore and is expected to generate more than 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region.

Facility Built in About 13 Months
The company said the plant became operational within around 13–14 months of the bhoomi pujan performed in August 2025.
CG Power Chairman Vellayan Subbiah said the facility has been built at scale to manufacture the world’s largest power transformers and will help meet demand for power infrastructure equipment while also supporting exports.
CG Power Group CEO and Managing Director Amar Kaul said the first transformer rollout marked the completion of the company’s accelerated execution of the project, with support from the Madhya Pradesh government and the company’s internal execution programme.
To Serve Power, Railways, Renewable Energy and Data Centres
The Sehore facility is intended to cater to several sectors requiring high-voltage power infrastructure.
According to the company, its products will serve:
- Utilities and transmission infrastructure
- Renewable energy projects
- Data centres
- Railways
- Oil and gas projects
- Export markets
The facility is therefore positioned to manufacture high-voltage transformers for both domestic requirements and the company’s export business.
CM Highlights Madhya Pradesh’s Industrial Push
Addressing the inauguration programme, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was focused on attracting investment and supporting industries of different sizes.
Yadav said the state had created an investment environment aimed at encouraging industrial expansion and employment generation. He described “Passion, Potential, Policy, Performance and Production” as the state’s new industrial identity.
The Chief Minister also said the Sehore facility represented a major industrial milestone for the district and highlighted the growing presence of manufacturing activity in the region.
World’s Largest Transformer Testing Laboratory
CG Power Group CEO and Managing Director Amar Kaul also highlighted the testing infrastructure established at the facility.
According to the company, the plant houses the world’s largest transformer testing laboratory. The facility also uses modern production equipment, while about 36% of its electricity requirement is planned to come from solar energy, according to the company’s statement cited in the state government’s release.
The plant’s commissioning marks a new manufacturing facility for CG Power in Madhya Pradesh after nearly nine decades of the company’s operations in electrical infrastructure equipment.
Sehore Emerges as a Manufacturing Location
The new transformer facility adds to the industrial activity developing in Sehore. The district had earlier seen the foundation stone laid for the CG Power project as part of a larger industrial investment programme in August 2025. At that time, the transformer project was described as Asia’s largest single-location transformer manufacturing facility.
With the first transformer now rolled out, the Sehore plant has moved from construction to production and is set to manufacture high-voltage transformers for India’s power infrastructure requirements and international markets.
