Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is set to strengthen its position in the power equipment manufacturing sector as CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited begins production at its new power transformer manufacturing unit in Sehore. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will roll out the facility’s first transformer on September 4.
Spread across around 50 acres, the facility is described as India’s largest single-location power transformer manufacturing unit. The project has moved from foundation to production in around 13 to 14 months after its bhoomi pujan in August 2025.
Sehore to Manufacture High-Capacity Transformers
The new facility will manufacture power transformers ranging from 220 kV to 1200 kV, catering to the country’s growing electricity and transmission requirements.
The unit will have a production capacity of 35 power transformers per month, giving a major boost to India’s high-voltage transmission equipment manufacturing capacity.
The transformers will serve multiple sectors, including:
- Power and transmission infrastructure
- Data centres
- Railways
- Renewable energy
- Oil and gas
The facility will also supply transformers to global markets, creating an export-oriented manufacturing base in Madhya Pradesh.

From Investment Proposal to Production
The Sehore project reflects the state government’s push to convert major industrial investment proposals into operational manufacturing facilities.
The government is focusing on attracting industries that can create local employment while strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem. The CG Power unit is expected to generate more than 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in Sehore.
Beyond direct jobs, the facility is likely to create demand for supporting services and businesses linked to manufacturing, logistics and industrial operations.
A Major Expansion for CG Power
CG Power and Industrial Solutions has been active in electrical engineering for nearly nine decades. Its product portfolio includes transformers, switchgear, induction motors, drives, traction motors and other electrical equipment.
The Sehore facility will significantly expand the company’s power transformer manufacturing capabilities, particularly in the high-capacity segment.
The plant’s location and scale are also expected to strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s role in the supply chain for major infrastructure projects.
Why the Sehore Unit Matters
India’s expanding power network, renewable energy capacity and large infrastructure projects require increasingly sophisticated transmission equipment. High-capacity transformers are critical for transmitting electricity across long distances and integrating new generation capacity into the grid.
With production covering transformers up to 1200 kV, the Sehore unit can support these requirements while also opening an export route for high-value electrical equipment manufactured in the state.
For Madhya Pradesh, the project represents more than a new industrial facility. It combines manufacturing, employment and export potential, giving Sehore a stronger place on the industrial map.
