The publication is intended to familiarise investors and industry stakeholders with the state’s energy-sector potential.
State Presents Energy Investment Roadmap
Chhattisgarh also used the summit to outline its broader energy-sector investment plans.
According to reports on the Chief Minister’s presentation, the state is looking at investment opportunities worth approximately Rs 5.60 lakh crore over the next five years across the energy sector.
The renewable energy component includes proposed investments of around Rs 1.33 lakh crore for projects with a planned capacity of 23,923 MW. The broader roadmap also includes expansion of thermal power generation.
The state has indicated that it wants to increase the contribution of green energy to its overall electricity demand from around 15% to more than 45%.
Solar Power and Energy Storage Among Key Priorities
The state’s renewable energy plans also cover solar power generation, rooftop installations, agricultural solar pumps and battery-based energy storage.
Some of the initiatives and targets highlighted include:
- Battery energy storage: Plans to install battery energy storage systems with a combined capacity of 10,000 MWh over the next two years.
- Existing storage project: A 40 MW/120 MWh battery storage system linked to a 100 MW solar project is already operational in Rajnandgaon.
- Rooftop solar: Around 1.26 lakh rooftop solar installations have been reported under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
- Solar irrigation: Approximately 1.66 lakh solar-powered irrigation pumps are being used across nearly 1.94 lakh hectares.
- PM-KUSUM: The state plans to establish solar power plants with a combined capacity of 395 MW under the scheme.
Chhattisgarh is also exploring opportunities in compressed biogas, bio-ethanol and green hydrogen, with agricultural waste, cattle dung and other bio-resources identified as potential feedstock.
Eight compressed biogas plants with a combined capacity of 80 metric tonnes are reportedly under development, involving proposed investments of around Rs 800 crore.
