Raipur: Chhattisgarh has once again emerged as a leading state in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), with central approval granted for 774 new rural roads spanning 2,426.875 km under PMGSY-IV. The announcement was conveyed by Union Rural Development Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a letter to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, marking a significant step toward providing all-weather connectivity to unconnected habitations.
Accelerating Rural Connectivity and Development
Under various phases of PMGSY, Chhattisgarh has already been sanctioned 9,722 roads (48,594 km) and 669 bridges. Of these, 8,753 roads (43,380 km) and 470 bridges have been completed, demonstrating the state’s strong performance in rural infrastructure development. The newly approved roads under PMGSY-IV are expected to enhance access to markets, healthcare, education, nutrition services, and disaster response facilities, directly benefiting rural livelihoods and overall socio-economic growth.

Union Minister and Chief Minister Applaud Achievements
Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated the people of Chhattisgarh and PMGSY teams, engineers, and field staff for the state’s consistent implementation efforts. He emphasized that the central government remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of PMGSY reach all targeted beneficiaries, further accelerating rural development.
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed the approval, describing it as a major boost for the state’s rural development drive. “The sanction of 774 new roads under PMGSY will give fresh momentum to our rural development efforts. Our government is committed to providing safe, all-season road connectivity to every village, thereby uplifting the rural economy, education, healthcare, and public welfare,” he said, extending his gratitude to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Union Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
