Raipur: Chhattisgarh is likely to witness a major reshuffle of IAS officers in the coming days, with several district collectors set to be replaced. Administrative circles indicate that the reshuffle is linked to the deputation of officers to the central government and preparations for new responsibilities at both the ministry and district levels.
Deputation to Central Government Triggers Transfers
The trend of IAS officers going on central deputation continues to grow in Chhattisgarh. Following Dr. Priyanka Shukla, the Jagdalpur Collector S. Harish and Balodabazar-Bhatapara Collector Deepak Soni have also been deputed to the central government.
- S. Harish, formerly Bastar Collector, has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
- Deepak Soni, a 2011 batch IAS officer, has been appointed Director in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The officers have already received their new postings and are expected to be relieved of their district duties soon.
Several District Collectors to Be Replaced
With the simultaneous deputation of two key district collectors, administrative sources suggest that a large-scale transfer list of IAS officers will be released shortly. These changes are expected to impact several districts, signaling the start of a broader reshuffle at the state level.
Preparations are reportedly underway to hand over district administration to new officers, ensuring a smooth transition once the current collectors are relieved.
Possible Changes Across Ministries and Field Administration
Officials believe that the upcoming reshuffle will not be limited to district-level postings. Extensive administrative changes at ministry levels and field administration are also possible, including:
- Transfers of additional IAS officers
- Appointment of new responsibilities for existing officers
- Reorganization aimed at strengthening governance and administration in districts and ministries
This sequence of events is being closely watched by bureaucrats and political observers, as it may reshape the administrative landscape of Chhattisgarh significantly.
Continuous Deputation Trend
The number of Chhattisgarh cadre IAS officers on central deputation has been steadily increasing. Currently, around 17 officers from the state cadre are serving in central government roles. Notable long-term deputations include:
- Amit Agarwal
- Nidhi Chhibber
The trend reflects the growing role of Chhattisgarh officers at the national level and underscores the need for a reshuffle to fill the resulting vacancies at the district and state administration levels.
Administrative Changes
With the release of the upcoming transfer list, Chhattisgarh is expected to witness significant administrative changes, particularly among district collectors. The reshuffle is anticipated to bring fresh leadership to several districts and potentially revamp responsibilities at the ministry level, marking a notable phase in the state’s bureaucratic functioning.
