Raipur: Chhattisgarh is witnessing a new phase of development after overcoming the long-standing challenge of Left Wing Extremism (LWE), Vice President C P Radhakrishnan said on Wednesday.
Addressing the third convocation of AIIMS Raipur, he said areas once affected by violence are now increasingly being identified with roads, schools, hospitals, connectivity, investment and development opportunities.
From Naxalism to Development
Radhakrishnan said parts of Chhattisgarh had faced the serious challenge of LWE for decades. However, the state has now emerged from the menace and is witnessing a new dawn of progress and prosperity.
He highlighted the visible transformation in areas that were earlier affected by violence. Improved infrastructure and connectivity are helping bring essential services and development opportunities closer to communities.

Healthcare and Connectivity Gain Importance
The Vice President’s remarks at AIIMS Raipur also highlighted the importance of healthcare institutions in the state’s development journey.
Better roads, hospitals and connectivity can improve access to essential services while creating opportunities for education, employment and investment.
The shift also reflects a broader change in Chhattisgarh, where development is increasingly becoming a defining feature of areas once associated with conflict.
A New Phase for Chhattisgarh
The transition from violence to development could have a long-term impact on communities across the state. Continued investment in infrastructure, healthcare and connectivity can strengthen public services and support economic growth.
With the Naxal challenge receding, Chhattisgarh is now looking towards a future shaped increasingly by development, opportunity and prosperity.
