The General Administration Department of Chhattisgarh has announced the retirement orders for four IAS officers, including the state’s Chief Secretary. However, this is not an immediate retirement; the Chief Secretary is scheduled to retire on June 30, 2025.

The four officers affected by this order are Amitabh Jain, KL Chauhan, Vipin Manjhi, and Topeshwar Verma. This advance notification aligns with the protocol that retirement orders for All India Service officers are typically issued one to one and a half years before their retirement dates.

For instance, retirement orders for several IAS officers due to retire in 2024 were issued back in February 2023. This includes the order for Rita Shandilya, who retired last month, and Sharda Verma, who is set to retire on December 31, 2024. Similarly, orders for the four officers set to retire in 2025 were issued in April 2024.

The practice of issuing retirement orders in advance is intended to ensure a smooth transition and adequate planning for succession within the state administration.
