New Medical Colleges Coming Up in Janjgir-Champa, Kabirdham, and Manendragarh
According to a recent directive from the Medical Education Department, administrative approval has been granted for:
- Rs. 357.25 crore for Janjgir-Champa Medical College
- Rs. 357.25 crore for Kabirdham Medical College
- Rs. 362.57 crore for Manendragarh Medical College
These allocations will cover the construction, infrastructure development, and academic facilities required to operate full-fledged government medical colleges in these districts.
Expanding Access to Medical Education and Health Services
The state government’s decision is poised to not only improve medical education capacity but also significantly enhance regional healthcare delivery systems. These colleges will serve as medical education hubs while offering modern diagnostic and treatment services to the general public, particularly in remote and semi-urban areas.
Health Minister Mr. Shyam Bihari Jaiswal expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and Finance Minister, stating that this is a “historic step towards a healthier and more educated Chhattisgarh.”
Strategic Focus on Regional Healthcare Equity
By focusing on tier-2 and tier-3 districts, the state is ensuring equitable access to healthcare and creating localized centres of medical excellence. The establishment of these institutions will also generate employment opportunities, support regional economic development, and address the shortage of medical professionals across the state.
This investment is part of a larger roadmap to make Chhattisgarh a leading state in public health, especially in underserved and rural areas where medical facilities are limited.
Strengthening Medical Infrastructure for a Healthier Future
With this move, Chhattisgarh joins the ranks of progressive states that are investing in next-generation healthcare infrastructure while also nurturing the next generation of doctors and healthcare professionals.
The colleges are expected to be equipped with modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels, and hospitals, meeting all standards set by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
