Raipur: The cabinet meeting of the government of Chhattisgarh, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, concluded with several key policy decisions aimed at boosting clean energy, sports infrastructure, public welfare, and administrative reforms.

Approval of Chhattisgarh Urban Gas Distribution Policy 2026

One of the most significant decisions taken in the meeting was the approval of the Chhattisgarh Urban Gas Distribution Policy, 2026.

The policy aims to:

  • Ensure availability of clean and affordable natural gas
  • Provide a cheaper alternative to LPG for consumers
  • Expand pipeline-based gas supply in urban areas
  • Strengthen gas infrastructure across the state

Officials said the initiative will promote clean energy, attract large-scale investment, and create new employment opportunities while improving environmental sustainability.

Land Allocation for Cricket Academy in Rajnandgaon

The cabinet also approved the allocation of 5 acres of land at concessional rates to the District Cricket Association, Rajnandgaon.

The land will be used for the development of a modern sports ground and cricket academy, aimed at promoting sports infrastructure and nurturing young talent in the region.

Financial Assistance to Over 6,800 Beneficiaries

In a major welfare decision, the cabinet approved financial assistance of approximately ₹11.98 crore under the Chief Minister’s discretionary grant fund.

The aid will benefit 6,809 individuals and institutions, providing timely relief to those in need and strengthening social support systems across the state.

Review of IPS Officers’ Disciplinary Orders

The cabinet also reviewed administrative decisions concerning senior IPS officers of the 1988 batch — Sanjay Pillai, R.K. Vij, and Mukesh Gupta.

The government decided to revoke the earlier order dated September 26, 2019, related to their demotion. It also annulled the decision taken on September 24, 2019, restoring all related administrative orders to their previous status after a detailed review of facts and circumstances.

Focus on Clean Energy, Sports and Public Welfare

The cabinet decisions reflect a broader focus on:

  • Clean and affordable energy expansion
  • Development of sports infrastructure
  • Strengthening welfare support systems
  • Administrative clarity and policy correction

Officials said these measures are designed to balance development, governance efficiency, and public welfare.

The Chhattisgarh cabinet’s latest decisions highlight a multi-sector development approach, combining clean energy reforms, youth sports promotion, financial assistance for citizens, and administrative restructuring to enhance governance efficiency across the state.
