Raipur: The government of Chhattisgarh has taken a major step toward digital empowerment of workers by launching the e-Shram Saathi mobile app, aimed at improving access to employment and welfare schemes for millions of registered labourers in the state.
The initiative was launched by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai during a high-level review meeting held at the Ministry, Mahanadi Bhawan.
e-Shram Saathi App: A Digital Labour Platform
The newly launched app is being described as a “Digital Labour Chauk” for the state. It is designed to help workers:
- Find job opportunities from home
- Access government welfare schemes easily
- Receive timely updates on employment options
CM Sai said the platform will ensure that workers no longer have to struggle in search of jobs and can access opportunities directly through digital means.
Focus on Worker Welfare and Rights Protection
During the review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that protecting the rights of workers remains the government’s top priority. He directed officials to ensure that welfare schemes are not limited to paperwork but reach beneficiaries on the ground.
He also stressed the effective implementation of four major labour codes to ensure safer and more dignified working conditions.
Over 33 Lakh Workers Registered in the State
Currently, more than 33 lakh workers are registered under various labour welfare programs in Chhattisgarh. Several schemes are already being implemented for their benefit, including:
- Mini Mata Mahtari Jatan Yojana
- Noni Sashaktikaran Yojana
- Atal Utkrisht Shiksha Yojana
The government has also doubled seats under the Atal Utkrisht Shiksha Yojana from 100 to 200 to improve educational opportunities for workers’ children.
Push for Transparency Through e-KYC and Technology
To improve transparency, CM Sai instructed officials to complete e-KYC verification at the earliest. He also directed surprise inspections of industrial units using modern technology to ensure compliance with labour laws.
The move is expected to strengthen monitoring systems and protect workers’ rights more effectively.
Strict Implementation of Labour Codes
CM Sai highlighted the importance of implementing labour reforms introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He instructed strict enforcement of:
- Labour Code on Wages, 2019
- Industrial Relations Code, 2020
- Social Security Code, 2020
- Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020
These reforms aim to provide a safer, more secure, and respectful working environment for labourers.
Technology-Driven Labour Department Reform
The Chief Minister also reviewed the functioning of the Labour Department, industrial safety systems, and welfare boards. He instructed officials to ensure regular training programs and better coordination across district-level offices.
Step Towards Digital and Social Empowerment
With the launch of the e-Shram Saathi app and renewed focus on welfare schemes, Chhattisgarh is moving toward a more digitally connected and worker-friendly governance model. The government’s initiatives aim to strengthen both the economic and social security of the state’s labour force.
