Delhi Assembly Moves Resolution for Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Implementation to Boost Women’s Political Representation

Delhi: The government of the Delhi has moved a resolution for the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam during a one-day special session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, marking a renewed push for women’s political empowerment.

The resolution was presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who emphasized the importance of increasing women’s representation in democratic institutions.

Focus on Women’s Empowerment and Political Representation

While addressing the Assembly, CM Rekha Gupta stated that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was originally introduced in Parliament with the objective of strengthening women’s participation in governance.

She said the legislation is a significant step toward ensuring greater representation of women in elected bodies and empowering them politically at all levels.

Criticism of Opposition Parties

The Chief Minister strongly criticized opposition parties, alleging that they had blocked the passage of the Bill in Parliament. She termed their actions as “petty politics” and said such resistance was against the spirit of women’s empowerment.

She reaffirmed that the Delhi Assembly fully supports the implementation of the legislation and stands in favor of strengthening women’s rights in governance.

BJP Protest in Assembly Premises

Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs, led by CM Rekha Gupta, staged a protest within the Assembly premises. The protest was directed against opposition parties for allegedly obstructing the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament.

The demonstration highlighted the ruling party’s demand for faster implementation of the legislation.

Government Push for Legislative Support

The resolution reflects the Delhi government’s broader commitment to supporting policies aimed at gender equality and inclusive governance.

Officials stated that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance women’s participation in democratic decision-making processes.

Strong Political Message from the Assembly Session

The special session concluded with a clear political message from the ruling side, emphasizing both support for the bill and criticism of opposition resistance.With this resolution, the Delhi government has formally aligned itself with the broader national push for increased women’s representation in politics.
