New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed front block and a modern physiotherapy centre at the Municipal Corporation-run Lajpat Nagar Colony Hospital. The new healthcare infrastructure, built at a cost of approximately ₹4 crore, is expected to significantly improve medical services for nearly 15–20 lakh residents in the region.
The Chief Minister emphasized that a strong healthcare system is the foundation of a developed Delhi, highlighting the government’s continued focus on strengthening public health infrastructure.
Senior dignitaries including Delhi Mayor Pravesh Vahi, Jangpura MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Deputy Mayor Dr. Monika Pant, senior officials, and specialist doctors were present at the event.
70-Year Legacy of Lajpat Nagar Colony Hospital
During her address, CM Rekha Gupta highlighted the long-standing service history of Lajpat Nagar Colony Hospital, which has been serving local residents and migrant populations for nearly 70 years.
Over time, patient inflow has increased significantly, leading to a shortage of modern facilities. The newly inaugurated front block and physiotherapy centre are expected to address these challenges and reduce the need to refer patients to larger hospitals.
Currently, the hospital handles an average of 600–700 outpatient department (OPD) patients daily, and this capacity is expected to expand further with the upgraded infrastructure.

Modern Healthcare Infrastructure and Facilities
The newly constructed front block has been designed to enhance both patient and staff convenience. Key features include:
- A 6-bed day-care centre
- 12 modern consultation rooms
- A conference room for medical coordination and training
- A fully air-conditioned, CSR-supported advanced physiotherapy centre
- Patient-friendly infrastructure with modern clinical amenities
The facility has been developed to ensure a fully functional, efficient, and comfortable healthcare environment for both patients and healthcare professionals.
Wide Range of Medical Services Available
The hospital continues to provide comprehensive multi-specialty healthcare services, including:
- General Medicine
- Gynecology and Obstetrics
- Ophthalmology (Eye Care)
- ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat)
- Pediatrics
- Dermatology
- Dentistry
- AYUSH services
- Physiotherapy
In addition, essential diagnostic and support services such as digital X-ray facilities, laboratory testing, and free medicines are available to patients.
Government’s Focus on Digital Healthcare Transformation
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the Delhi government has implemented extensive digitization of healthcare services across government hospitals.
Key initiatives include:
- Digital storage of all patient medical records
- Online appointment booking system to reduce waiting times
- Integration of all government hospitals into a unified digital health platform
- Development of a live portal to provide real-time ICU bed availability across both government and private hospitals
These initiatives aim to improve transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in healthcare delivery.
Commitment to Transparency and Anti-Corruption Measures
Rekha Gupta reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. She stated that strict action will be taken against any irregularities or malpractice in any department, including healthcare.
She also emphasized that the Delhi government and Municipal Corporation are working jointly to strengthen the capital’s healthcare system, including providing financial support for the modernization of older municipal hospitals.
