Deoria: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 106 development projects worth more than ₹456 crore in the Rudrapur and Barhaj assembly constituencies. The event marked a major push toward infrastructure, connectivity, employment, and welfare development in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Barhaj to Become Key Inland Waterway Hub
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi highlighted Barhaj’s historical importance as a major trade centre and said it is set to regain prominence through the upcoming inland waterway connectivity.
He stated that the town could become a crucial hub under the inland water transport project, enabling farmers to transport vegetables, fruits, millets, flowers, and other agricultural products to national and international markets via waterways.
He also noted that the government is actively working to reduce flood impact from the Rapti and Ghaghara rivers while strengthening rural road connectivity across the region.

Focus on Housing, Welfare and Basic Amenities
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development, stating that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 6.18 lakh new houses have been sanctioned for poor families.
He further emphasized that every eligible citizen should receive:
- Pucca houses
- Toilets
- Ayushman Bharat health cards
- Free ration facilities
He said the double-engine government is fully committed to ensuring dignity and security for the poor, farmers, women, and traders.
Youth Empowerment Through Self-Employment Schemes
CM Yogi highlighted the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana, under which youth are being provided loans of up to ₹5 lakh without interest or collateral.
He said that today’s youth in Uttar Pradesh are increasingly becoming job creators instead of job seekers, and the government is actively supporting entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities.

Progress in Health, Education and Disease Control
The Chief Minister said that eastern Uttar Pradesh, once severely affected by encephalitis, has seen significant improvement due to sustained government efforts. He added that children are now safer, and girls are attending schools with dignity. The government continues to focus on strengthening healthcare, nutrition, and education systems to ensure no child is deprived of essential services.
Development of Road Connectivity and Infrastructure
CM Yogi emphasized that strong infrastructure is the backbone of development. He announced several road expansion projects connecting key regions including:
- Hata
- Gauri Bazar
- Rudrapur
- Kaudiram
- Kasya and surrounding areas
He also mentioned ongoing efforts to improve north-south connectivity, which will enhance trade, investment, and employment opportunities across the region.
Youth Employment and Skill Development Push
The Chief Minister stated that the government has already connected around 9 lakh youth with government jobs, while many others have gained employment through revived traditional industries.He reiterated that initiatives like the Yuva Udyami Development Campaign are helping young entrepreneurs grow through easy financial assistance and training support.
Strong Message on Public Welfare Responsibilities
CM Yogi appealed to gram pradhans, MPs, and MLAs to ensure that no poor person remains hungry and no eligible beneficiary is left out of welfare schemes.
He stressed that government resources are sufficient and must be used effectively to ensure last-mile delivery of benefits.
Development Projects Worth ₹456 Crore Inaugurated
During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple major infrastructure projects, including:
- ₹31.30 crore bridge in Bhadhila Awwal (Barhaj block)
- ₹172.26 crore four-lane widening of Sonughat–Barhaj road
- ₹66.38 crore widening of Naurangiya–Hata–Gauri Bazar–Rudrapur road
- ₹6.80 crore riverbank protection work along Ghaghara river in Bhagalpur
- ₹17.30 crore widening of Indupur–Lawkani road
- ₹4.51 crore community building in Rudrapur Nagar Panchayat
- ₹4.05 crore and ₹5.85 crore flood protection works on embankments
- Reconstruction of ANM Training Centre with ₹17.16 crore investment
These projects aim to improve road connectivity, strengthen flood protection systems, and enhance healthcare and educational infrastructure in the region.
Beneficiaries Honoured at the Event
CM Yogi also distributed certificates and financial assistance cheques to 10 beneficiaries, including:
Sangeeta Devi, Gudiya Yadav, Pramod Prasad, Hari Lal, Arvind Tiwari, Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Narendra Kumar Madhesia, Manju Mishra, Ram Tripathi, and Jitendra Bahadur Singh.
