Uttar Pradesh Targets Record 35 Crore Plantation

The Uttar Pradesh government has set a record target of planting 35 crore saplings across the state during the 2026 plantation campaign.

The Forest Department is coordinating the drive, while 27 government departments are participating to ensure successful implementation.

Gorakhpur district has been given a target of planting 55,28,600 saplings as part of the statewide mission.

‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign Launched Across UP

CM Yogi Adityanath said that tree plantation is deeply connected with Indian culture and traditions.

In a message shared on social media, he said nature conservation is not only an environmental responsibility but also an expression of gratitude towards the Earth, rivers and trees that provide life, food, water and energy.

He described the plantation drive as a collective celebration of gratitude towards nature rather than just a government programme.

CM Yogi Warns Against Climate Change and Global Warming

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed concern over the rising impact of climate change and global warming.

He said excessive cutting of trees and destruction of water resources have disturbed the natural balance, affecting weather patterns and agricultural production.

The Chief Minister emphasised that development and environmental protection must go hand in hand for a sustainable future.

UP Government Highlights Environmental Initiatives

CM Yogi said the Uttar Pradesh government is taking several steps to improve environmental conditions and reduce carbon emissions.

He highlighted that the installation of 16 lakh LED street lights across the state has resulted in savings of around ₹100 crore and helped reduce carbon emissions.

He also mentioned that Ayodhya has been developed as India’s first solar city, reflecting the government’s focus on clean energy and sustainable development.

CM Appeals People to Plant Trees in Memory of Loved Ones

The Chief Minister appealed to citizens to plant trees in memory of their ancestors and loved ones and take responsibility for protecting them.

He also urged people to continue efforts to eliminate single-use plastic and contribute towards environmental protection.

Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak Urges Public Participation

Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak said the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign has been started across Uttar Pradesh with the aim of planting more than 35 crore trees.

He appealed to the people of the state, government departments, BJP workers and social organisations to actively participate in the campaign and help make Uttar Pradesh greener.

CM Yogi Highlights Ujjwala Scheme Benefits

During the event, CM Yogi Adityanath also highlighted the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

He said the scheme has provided LPG connections to around 10 crore families across the country, including nearly 2 crore families in Uttar Pradesh, helping women move away from smoke-based cooking methods.

The Chief Minister said the scheme has improved the health and living conditions of millions of women.

Plantation Drive Aims to Build Greener Uttar Pradesh

The Vriksharopan Mahayagya-2026 is aimed at increasing green cover, combating climate challenges and encouraging citizens to participate in environmental conservation.

Through the campaign, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to create a sustainable environment while ensuring that planted trees are protected for future generations.
