New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) management and trade unions have reached an agreement on the 2026 Performance-Linked Reward (PLR), approving a one-time bonus of ₹1,10,250 for each eligible employee. The agreement was finalised after nearly nine hours of discussions between management and representatives of various workers’ unions.
The decision will benefit approximately 2.01 lakh non-executive employees working across Coal India and its subsidiaries. The management has stated that the bonus amount will be transferred directly to employees’ bank accounts by October 15, 2026, ahead of the Durga Puja and Diwali festive season.
Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a Coal India subsidiary operating in Jharkhand, will have approximately 29,100 employees benefiting from the announcement.
The bonus is expected to provide financial support to employees and their families during the festive season while boosting consumer spending across coal-producing regions.

The bonus announcement is expected to bring relief to employees and their families as they prepare for the festive season. The payment will provide additional funds for household expenses, shopping, travel and other festival-related requirements.
The direct transfer of the bonus by October 15 is intended to ensure that eligible employees receive the amount during the festive period.

The payment of ₹1,10,250 to approximately 2.01 lakh employees is expected to increase spending across coal-producing regions and surrounding commercial centres.

Coal India Bonus Increased Over the Past Three Years
Coal India’s festive bonus has increased over the past three years, according to the figures provided in the announcement.
The annual comparison is as follows:
- 2024: Approximately ₹93,750 per employee.
- 2025: Approximately ₹1,02,500 per employee.
- 2026: ₹1,10,250 per eligible employee.
The 2026 bonus represents an increase of ₹7,750 over the 2025 amount, equivalent to approximately 7.56%.
Compared with 2024, the bonus has increased by ₹16,500, or approximately 17.6%.
The latest agreement marks the highest bonus amount among the three years listed and reflects the outcome of negotiations between Coal India management and workers’ representatives.
