Indian Masterminds Stories

Chandigarh: The Department of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (DoPT) has released the cadre allocation list for newly appointed IAS officers of the CSE-2024 batch. Punjab has been allocated four officers, while Haryana will receive six. T

he allocations take effect immediately, with officers expected to join their respective state cadres following mandatory training.

Gurkanwal Singh (27) from Jalandhar, who secured the 353rd rank in the UPSC CSE-2024 exams, has qualified for the IAS and has been allotted the Punjab cadre.

Punjab Cadre Officers and Backgrounds

The four IAS officers allotted to Punjab are –

  • Adiba Anam Ashfaque Ahmad – originally from Maharashtra
  • Himanshu – native of Uttarakhand
  • Gurkanwal Singh – hails from Punjab and has secured his home-state posting
  • Subrat Singh Balot – from Delhi

This marks a notable appointment as Gurkanwal Singh is assigned to his home cadre, a preferred choice for many officers.

Haryana Cadre Allocations

The six IAS officers allocated to Haryana are –

  • Muskan Srivastava
  • Vivek Yadav
  • Sohan Shallendra
  • Amitej Pangtey
  • Shivani Panchal
  • Vishal Singh

The DoPT has formally informed all chief secretaries regarding the allocations of a total of 179 IAS officers from the 2024 batch.

Significance of Cadre Allocations

Cadre allocations play a crucial role in balancing state and central administrative needs. Officers joining their home cadre, like Gurkanwal Singh in Punjab, often find it advantageous for smoother career progression and familiarity with local governance challenges.
