Campaign Reaches Panchayat Level
The sugarcane expansion campaign has received significant support from farmers across Darbhanga.
Awareness activities are being conducted at the panchayat level to explain the benefits of sugarcane cultivation and encourage farmers to obtain their Sugarcane IDs.
The growing number of registrations indicates increasing interest among farmers in expanding sugarcane cultivation in the district.
Potential Boost to Sugarcane Production
The department expects greater farmer participation to contribute to an expansion in the area under sugarcane cultivation.
Officials said increased cultivation could also improve the availability of quality sugarcane for sugar mills operating in the region.
This could help strengthen the supply base of sugar mills in Darbhanga and surrounding areas.
Focus on Farmers’ Income
The initiative is also expected to support farmers by improving their access to government assistance, technical guidance and other cultivation-related facilities.
The registration of 24,215 farmers marks an important milestone for Darbhanga’s sugarcane expansion drive.
With continued government support and greater farmer participation, the campaign could give fresh momentum to sugarcane production and create opportunities to improve farmers’ income in the district.
