Big Boost For Indigenous Aviation: HAL To Hand Over Tejas Trainers And HTT-40 Aircraft To IAF

Bangalore: HAL Tejas trainer delivery marks another important step in India’s defence self-reliance journey. 

According to official information released by the Ministry of Defence and shared by the Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will hand over LCA Tejas Final Operational Clearance (FOC) Twin Seater Trainers, HTT-40 Basic Trainer Aircraft, and Dhruv Next Generation (NG) helicopters during a ceremony in Bengaluru on September 18, 2026.

The event highlights India’s growing capability to design, develop, and manufacture advanced aerospace platforms for both military and civil aviation requirements.

HAL To Hand Over Multiple Indigenous Aircraft Platforms

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will officially deliver three important indigenous aviation platforms. These include:

  • LCA Tejas FOC Twin Seater Trainers for the Indian Air Force (IAF)
  • HTT-40 Basic Trainer Aircraft for the IAF
  • Dhruv Next Generation (NG) Helicopters for Pawan Hans Limited (PHL)

The handover ceremony will take place in Bengaluru in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu.

Why HAL Tejas Trainer Delivery Is Important

The Ministry of Defence stated that HAL and its industry partners have played a significant role in strengthening indigenous defence production capabilities.

The LCA Tejas FOC Twin Seater Trainer is a two-seat variant of India’s indigenous Light Combat Aircraft. The aircraft is designed primarily for advanced pilot training while retaining combat capability.
