New Delhi: Under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government has taken a major step to give the capital a modern yet culturally rich identity. In a special ceremony at the Delhi Secretariat, the government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dalmia Group, Godrej Industries, and the EaseMyTrip Foundation.
The initiative aims to redevelop and beautify empty spaces and sidewalks under six major flyovers in Delhi, combining urban infrastructure improvements with cultural and aesthetic enhancements.
Flyover Beautification: Modern Design Meets Cultural Heritage
The project focuses on turning underutilized and neglected spaces into safe, attractive, and functional public areas. Features include:
- Clean and well-organized pedestrian tracks
- Vertical gardens and greenery to control pollution
- Lighting enhancements to eliminate ‘dark spots’
- Public seating and recreational zones
The initiative will not only improve the visual appeal of the flyovers but also make them safer and more accessible for pedestrians.

Hanuman Setu Revamp: Celebrating Ramayanic Heritage
The most eye-catching aspect of the project is the redevelopment of Hanuman Setu, which will showcase the life of Lord Shri Ram and inspiring messages from the Ramayana. Artistic installations and modern lighting will bring these stories to life, creating an immersive cultural and spiritual experience for both residents and tourists.
This move aligns with Delhi government’s vision of preserving cultural heritage while embracing modern urban planning, ensuring that spirituality, art, and daily life coexist in public spaces.
Phase 1: Focus on Six Key Flyovers
In the first phase, six prominent flyovers have been selected for transformation. The redevelopment plan emphasizes:
- Clean, safe, and organized footpaths
- Green landscaping with vertical gardens
- Transforming neglected areas into useful and visually appealing public spaces
- Art installations to integrate Delhi’s cultural identity with urban development
Officials stated that the project will enhance both safety and aesthetics, making these areas attractive destinations rather than mere transit points.
Public-Private Collaboration for a Cleaner, Smarter Delhi
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector. She said,
“Our vision is to make Delhi a global city where modern development and cultural identity go hand in hand. Partnerships with corporate organizations reflect our commitment to a cleaner, more beautiful, and well-organized capital.”
Cabinet associate Pravesh Sahib Singh also addressed the event, calling it a milestone in urban planning for Delhi, while senior officials from relevant departments and corporate partners were present.
