Delhi Police Reshuffle: 9 IPS Officers Get New Roles as Special Commissioners; Hargobinder Dhaliwal to Head Crime Division

New Delhi: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Delhi Government has transferred and assigned new responsibilities to nine senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the rank of Special Commissioner of Police (Special CP), covering critical divisions such as Law and Order, Crime, Intelligence, Traffic, Vigilance and Protective Security.

The transfers were approved by Taranjit Singh Sandhu on the recommendations of the Police Establishment Board. The formal order was issued by Santosh D. Vaidya with immediate effect.

The reshuffle involves senior AGMUT cadre IPS officers from the 1994 to 1999 batches and is aimed at strengthening leadership across Delhi Police’s most sensitive operational wings.

Neeraj Thakur to Head Law and Order Zone-II

Neeraj Thakur, who was serving as Special Commissioner of Police, Traffic Division, has been appointed as Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order Zone-II.

Devesh Chandra Srivastava Takes Charge of Law and Order Zone-I

Devesh Chandra Srivastava has been posted as Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order Zone-I. He was previously heading the Crime Division along with additional charge of Perception Management and Media Cell.

David Lalrinsanga Continues in Operations with Additional Charges

David Lalrinsanga will continue as Special Commissioner of Police, Operations (PCR and Communication) and has been given additional charge of SPUWAC and SPUNER.

Manish Kumar Agarwal Moves to Traffic Division

Manish Kumar Agarwal, previously serving in the Intelligence Division, has been appointed as Special Commissioner of Police, Traffic Division.

Ajay Chaudhary Posted to Protective Security Division

Ajay Chaudhary has been transferred from the Vigilance Division to become Special Commissioner of Police, Protective Security Division.

Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal to Lead Crime Division

Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal has been appointed as Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Division, with additional charge of Perception Management, Media Cell and Legal Division.

Atul Katiyar Takes Over Vigilance Division

Atul Katiyar has been posted as Special Commissioner of Police, Vigilance Division, while retaining additional charge of Welfare and Licensing Divisions.

Vijay Kumar Given Additional Charge of Public Transport Safety

Vijay Kumar will continue as Special Commissioner of Police, Armed Police, and has also been assigned additional charge of the Public Transport Safety Division.

K. Jegadesan Appointed Special CP, Intelligence

K. Jegadesan has been transferred as Special Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Division. He will also continue to hold additional charge as Managing Director of the Delhi Police Housing Corporation.

Strategic Reorganization of Delhi Police Leadership

The reshuffle is being viewed as a significant leadership realignment aimed at improving operational coordination and strengthening supervision across Delhi Police’s core divisions, especially Law and Order, Intelligence, Traffic and Crime.
