New Delhi/Port Blair: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed Ravindra Singh Yadav as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Mr Yadav, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1995 batch of the AGMUT cadre, replaces Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, a 1997-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, who has been transferred to Delhi for a new assignment.

The appointment comes as part of a broader reshuffle within the AGMUT cadre, with speculation that Dhaliwal may be entrusted with an important role in Delhi after Madhup Kumar Tiwari was recently moved to Arunachal Pradesh.

Mr Yadav is a veteran IPS officer known for his extensive experience in crime investigation, law and order management and police administration.

Appointed as DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands

On May 13, 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs appointed Yadav as the Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a strategically important Union Territory in the Bay of Bengal.

The posting places him in charge of policing and security in one of India’s most sensitive maritime regions.
