New Delhi: The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW) has intensified efforts under the Centre’s Special Campaign 6.0, focusing on workplace cleanliness, scientific e-waste management and the time-bound disposal of pending administrative matters, including grievances and Parliamentary assurances.
The nationwide campaign, being conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2026, aims to institutionalise Swachhata across government offices while improving administrative efficiency and reducing pendency.
According to the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, its attached and subordinate offices are undertaking targeted activities to promote cleaner workplaces, streamline administrative processes and establish sustainable cleanliness practices.
E-Waste Management Gets Priority
DESW is prioritising the collection, segregation and responsible disposal of electronic waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules.

The initiative also promotes the concept of ‘Waste to Wealth’, which encourages the recovery of valuable resources from discarded materials rather than allowing them to accumulate as waste.
The department’s focus on e-waste management forms part of its broader effort to improve resource utilisation and promote environmentally responsible practices across government establishments.
Cleanliness Drives to Improve Government Workplaces
The department and its attached and subordinate offices are conducting cleanliness drives and Shramdaan activities to improve workplace hygiene, organisation and overall office conditions.
These activities are intended to create cleaner and more organised environments for government employees and visitors while making cleanliness an integral part of routine office functioning.
The campaign also seeks to move beyond temporary cleaning exercises by encouraging practices that can be sustained after the campaign period ends.
Pending Grievances and Parliamentary Assurances Under Focus
Reducing administrative pendency is another major component of Special Campaign 6.0.
DESW is working to streamline administrative processes and expedite the disposal of pending references, including public grievances and Parliamentary assurances.
The effort is aimed at improving administrative responsiveness and service delivery, particularly for the ex-servicemen community.
The department’s key administrative priorities include:
- Expediting the disposal of pending references.
- Addressing outstanding grievances.
- Clearing pending Parliamentary assurances.
- Improving the efficiency of administrative procedures.
- Strengthening service delivery for ex-servicemen.
Special Campaign 6.0 Runs Until October 31
The Government of India’s Special Campaign 6.0 is being conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with an emphasis on institutionalising cleanliness and reducing pending work across government offices.
For DESW, the campaign combines environmental responsibility with administrative reforms, linking better waste management and workplace upkeep with faster processing of official matters.
The department is also pursuing long-term measures to incorporate the principles of Swachhata into its regular operations, with the objective of ensuring that the improvements achieved during the campaign continue beyond October.
