Dhanbad: Development works covering roads, drainage, market infrastructure and school facilities have been taken up in rural areas of Jharkhand‘s Dhanbad district, with the Rural Development Special Division issuing tenders for five projects estimated at around ₹2.50 crore.
The proposed works are spread across Baghmara, Nawadih, Nirsa and Govindpur blocks. According to the department, online applications for the tenders can be submitted until 5 pm on September 16, 2026, while the bids will be opened on September 18.
Five Projects Taken Up Across Four Blocks
The projects include civil works in villages, development of a new weekly market, facilities under the Palash initiative and infrastructure improvements at a government school.

Key projects and estimated costs:
- Maheshpur Upper Basti, Baghmara: PCC road and drainage construction — ₹34.46 lakh
- Nawadih: Slab-covered drain from Vijay Mandal’s house towards Kali Temple — ₹34.55 lakh
- Nirsa: Construction of a new haat market — ₹89.91 lakh
- Nirsa Block Campus: Development of Palash Didi Café and Palash Mart — ₹24.09 lakh
- Kharaka Bad, Govindpur: School building repair, three new classrooms, toilet, septic tank and boundary wall works — ₹66.55 lakh
Road and Drainage Works in Maheshpur and Nawadih
In Maheshpur-02 panchayat of Baghmara block, a PCC road along with a drain will be constructed in Maheshpur Upper Basti at an estimated cost of ₹34.46 lakh.
The work has been assigned a completion period of six months.
A slab-covered drain will also be constructed in Nawadih from the residence of Vijay Mandal towards the Kali Temple. The estimated cost of this work is ₹34.55 lakh, with a six-month completion period.
New Haat Market Planned in Nirsa
A new haat market will be constructed in Nirsa at an estimated cost of ₹89.91 lakh.
The project has a nine-month completion timeline. The proposed facility is intended to provide a designated space for local traders and residents for buying and selling goods.
At the Nirsa block campus, a Palash Didi Café and Palash Mart will also be developed at a cost of ₹24.09 lakh.
The work is scheduled to be completed within three months.
Government School to Get Three New Classrooms
At Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya, Kharaka Bad, Govindpur, construction and repair work has been proposed at an estimated cost of ₹66.55 lakh.
The project includes:
- Repair of the existing school building
- Construction of three new classrooms
- Construction of toilets
- Construction of a septic tank
- Raising of the school boundary wall
The work has been given a nine-month completion period.
Tender Process to Begin in September
The Rural Development Special Division has invited online applications for all five projects.

- Total estimated project value: Around ₹2.50 crore
The department has also specified that contractors with previously incomplete works or unsatisfactory past performance will not be considered for allocation of the new projects.
