Lucknow: The two-day Dugdh Swarna Mahotsav 2026, celebrating 50 years of Uttar Pradesh’s Dairy Development Department, emerged as more than just a celebration. It highlighted the state government’s vision to strengthen the dairy sector as the backbone of rural economy, increase farmers’ income, and generate massive employment opportunities.
₹5,000 Crore Investment Proposals and Roadmap for Growth
During the Mahotsav, thousands of dairy farmers, entrepreneurs, and investors gathered in Lucknow, resulting in investment proposals worth ₹5,000 crore. Alongside, a strategic roadmap was presented to enhance farmers’ income, integrate modern technology, and establish a robust “cow-to-consumer” system for high-quality dairy production.

Massive Participation from Farmers and Digital Engagement
Over 10,000 farmers, dairy producers, and investors participated in person, while digital platforms like webcasting and YouTube Live connected millions across India and abroad. Experts shared valuable insights on government schemes, advanced dairy technologies, indigenous cattle breeds, and strengthening rural livelihoods.
Recognition for Farmers and Entrepreneurs
Minister Dharmpal Singh honored 139 outstanding farmers and entrepreneurs under the Nand Baba Award 2024-25. Beneficiaries received direct benefits through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), highlighting government transparency and efficiency.
Private companies showcased their dairy products and modern technology at various stalls. A guidebook featuring success stories from the Nand Baba Dairy Mission and Dugdh Policy-2022 was also released, inspiring future investors and farmers.
Uttar Pradesh Leading in Dairy Production
Additional Chief Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram emphasized that indigenous cattle farming strengthens the rural economy. Dairy Commissioner Dhanlakshmi K. stated that Uttar Pradesh remains the leading state in India for milk production, and the government continues to ensure farmers receive fair prices and sustainable income. The Nand Baba Dairy Mission and Dugdh Policy-2022 aim to create a seamless “cow-to-consumer” chain to produce high-quality dairy products.
Economic Impact: ₹25,000 Crore MoUs and Employment Generation
The dairy sector now contributes approximately ₹1.72 lakh crore to Uttar Pradesh’s economy. So far, the department has signed 796 MoUs worth over ₹25,000 crore, creating more than 60,000 jobs.
Under the Ground Breaking Ceremony-5.0, 72 projects worth ₹2,000 crore have been launched. Additionally, 59 new investment proposals totaling ₹3,000 crore could create 13,000 more jobs.
Empowering Farmers Through Nand Baba Dairy Mission
Over 10,000 beneficiaries have received ₹84 crore in subsidies via DBT, and 4,000+ dairy cooperative societies have connected approximately 1.5 lakh dairy producers, boosting farmers’ incomes by eliminating middlemen.
Knowledge Sharing and Modern Technology Showcase
The Mahotsav included presentations by the Cooperative Department and CSA University on the importance of indigenous breeds. Experts and entrepreneurs shared their experiences and innovations in the dairy sector.
Major companies like Amul, Namaste India, Gyan, and Paras displayed modern dairy technologies and launched new products. This initiative highlights the integration of traditional practices with advanced technology, setting the stage for UP as a global dairy hub.

The Dugdh Swarna Mahotsav 2026 demonstrated Uttar Pradesh’s readiness to combine technology and tradition in dairy farming.
