Kolkata: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has signed an Escrow Agreement for the Kumardih-Tirat OC-UG Mine under the administrative control of the Satgram-Sripur Area.
The agreement was signed on September 14, 2026, between the Coal Controller Organisation under the Ministry of Coal, Eastern Coalfields Limited and Union Bank of India. The agreement has been executed in accordance with the New Guidelines, 2025.
Agreement Aims to Strengthen Mine Closure Practices
The signing of the Escrow Agreement marks a step towards strengthening responsible, transparent and sustainable mine closure practices.

- Coal Controller Organisation, Ministry of Coal
- Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL)
- Union Bank of India
The agreement provides an institutional framework for managing the escrow mechanism associated with the Kumardih-Tirat OC-UG Mine.

- Robin Thounaoja, General Manager, Satgram-Sripur Area.
- Raju Rajak, Senior Manager, Geology, Mine Closure Plan, Geo-Tech & New Initiative Department.
Their participation reflects coordination between the operational area and the departments responsible for mine closure planning and related technical activities.
