New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) is pursuing major opportunities in oil and petroleum product pipelines and strategic storage projects in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with the state-owned engineering consultancy expecting an order pipeline of around USD 1 billion over the next two to three years.
EIL Chairman and Managing Director Atul Gupta shared the outlook with the media in New Delhi following the company’s 61st Annual General Meeting (AGM). He said EIL has already registered its interest in some of the projects being planned in the two Gulf countries.
Gupta said the two markets could see significant investments in infrastructure, with several projects and programmes already in the pipeline. EIL expects to participate in some of these opportunities as the projects move forward.
EIL Targets Pipeline and Storage Projects in Gulf Region
EIL’s immediate focus in Saudi Arabia and the UAE includes infrastructure related to oil and petroleum products, particularly pipelines and strategic storage.
According to the company’s outlook, the potential opportunity across the two countries is around USD 1 billion over the next two to three years.
Key areas of opportunity include:
- Oil pipelines
- Petroleum product pipelines
- Strategic storage infrastructure
- Other related energy infrastructure projects
EIL has already expressed interest in some of the projects, positioning the company to participate in upcoming infrastructure development programmes in the region.

Gulf Infrastructure Investment Creates Medium-Term Opportunity
The company’s assessment comes amid a changing infrastructure environment in the Gulf region. The conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States has affected oil facilities and energy infrastructure in the region, according to the information provided.
The situation has also affected the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas supplies. Against this backdrop, energy suppliers such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE are examining infrastructure options that can help move crude without relying entirely on the Strait of Hormuz.
This has created potential demand for alternative infrastructure, including pipeline networks and storage facilities.
EIL Sees Short-Term Slowdown in Gulf Orders
While EIL expects significant opportunities over the medium term, the company has also seen a slowdown in orders from the Gulf region in the near term.
Gupta said countries in the region are currently focused on securing and restoring their installations, which has led some clients to defer project decisions.
The current situation has therefore created a contrast between:
- Short-term: Slower order flow as clients focus on restoration and securing existing installations.
- Medium-term: Potential large-scale investments in pipelines, storage and other energy infrastructure.
Saudi Arabia Office Operational, Long-Term Aramco Agreement in Place
EIL has already strengthened its presence in Saudi Arabia as part of its international expansion strategy.
The company has made its Saudi Arabia office operational and has also entered into a long-term in-Kingdom services agreement with Saudi Aramco.
The presence in Saudi Arabia is expected to support EIL’s participation in upcoming projects and strengthen its ability to provide engineering and consultancy services within the market.
EIL Order Book Reaches All-Time High of ₹15,109 Crore
The Gulf opportunity comes at a time when EIL has reported strong financial and business performance.
For 2025-26, the company recorded its highest profit after tax at ₹638.74 crore, representing growth of nearly 37% over the previous year.
Other key financial figures include:
- Total income: ₹4,058.86 crore
- Profit Before Tax: ₹833.50 crore
- EBITDA: ₹877.15 crore
- Fresh business secured: ₹7,978 crore
- Order book as of March 31: ₹15,109 crore
The order book reached an all-time high of ₹15,109 crore, providing a strong base for EIL’s future business growth.
Overseas Consultancy Drives Fresh Business
International business played a major role in EIL’s fresh business during the year.
The company secured around ₹4,929 crore through overseas consultancy, accounting for nearly 62% of its total fresh business of ₹7,978 crore.
This growing international contribution reflects EIL’s expanding presence across global energy and infrastructure markets.
EIL Expands International Presence Across Multiple Markets
EIL’s international operations currently extend across several countries, including:
- Nigeria
- Mongolia
- Guyana
- UAE
- Bahrain
- Algeria
- Kuwait
- Saudi Arabia
Among these markets, Nigeria has emerged as a significant market for the company, supported by its experience in major energy and petrochemical projects.
Nigeria Business Expands After Dangote Project
EIL has built significant experience in Nigeria after executing work related to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Project.
Following this engagement, the company secured the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) mandate for the Dangote Train-2 expansion.
EIL has also taken up a separate Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and EPCM assignment for a new four-train fertiliser project in Nigeria.
These projects add to the company’s international portfolio and strengthen its position in overseas engineering consultancy and project management services.
Gulf Expansion Supports EIL’s International Growth Strategy
The potential USD 1 billion pipeline and storage order opportunity in Saudi Arabia and the UAE forms part of EIL’s broader internationalisation strategy.
With its Saudi office now operational, a long-term in-Kingdom services agreement with Saudi Aramco, and an established presence in the UAE and other international markets, EIL is looking to expand its overseas business further.
The company’s strong order book and growing share of overseas consultancy business provide the base for its continued expansion into global energy and infrastructure projects.
