Indian Masterminds Stories

In a major political development, former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Dr. K.G. Arunraj has officially joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and has been appointed as the party’s General Secretary of Propaganda and Policy. The announcement was made on Monday, June 9, 2025, by TVK president Vijay, actor-turned-politician and founder of the party.

Dr. Arunraj, a medical doctor by qualification, had a distinguished career in the Income Tax Department, serving in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Maharashtra before taking voluntary retirement to enter public life.

Ex-AIADMK and DMK MLAs Join TVK

Alongside Arunraj, former AIADMK MLA R. Rajalakshmi and former DMK MLA David Selvan also joined TVK, indicating a growing appeal of the party across traditional political boundaries.

A press release from TVK noted that the party’s ranks are expanding with individuals from diverse political and professional backgrounds.

Notable Additions to TVK Roster

TVK also welcomed several other prominent personalities into its fold

  • A. Sridharan, founder of Dravida Murpokku Makkal Katchi and a former AIADMK MLA
  • N. Marie Wilson, Managing Director of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology
  • C. Subash, a former judge

These inductions signal TVK’s strategy of broadening its leadership base with individuals from legal, academic, bureaucratic, and political sectors.

A Strategic Political Push Ahead of Elections?

The joining of high-profile individuals is seen as a strategic move by TVK ahead of upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu. With Vijay’s charismatic leadership and the addition of technocrats, former lawmakers, and bureaucrats, the party is aiming to position itself as a credible and inclusive alternative in Tamil Nadu politics.
