New Delhi: State-owned GAIL (India) Limited on Friday announced a strong financial performance for the first quarter of FY2026-27, reporting a standalone Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹4,292 crore and Revenue from Operations of ₹38,982 crore. The company said higher natural gas transmission and liquid hydrocarbon production supported the quarterly performance, although geopolitical tensions in West Asia affected gas marketing and polymer volumes.

The company also announced significant infrastructure expansion plans after receiving regulatory approval for three new LPG pipeline projects worth nearly ₹6,700 crore.

Standalone Financial Performance Shows Strong Recovery

For the April-June quarter of FY27, GAIL reported:

  • Revenue from Operations: ₹38,982 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹34,797 crore)
  • EBITDA: ₹6,948 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹2,175 crore)
  • Profit Before Tax (PBT): ₹5,773 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹1,577 crore)
  • Profit After Tax (PAT): ₹4,292 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹1,262 crore)

The substantial improvement reflects stronger operational performance across key business segments despite challenging global market conditions.

Consolidated Performance Also Improves

On a consolidated basis, GAIL posted robust growth across all financial parameters.

During Q1 FY27:

  • Revenue from Operations: ₹41,350 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹35,705 crore)
  • EBITDA: ₹7,573 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹2,703 crore)
  • Profit Before Tax: ₹6,268 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹1,966 crore)
  • Profit After Tax (excluding minority interest): ₹4,665 crore (Q4 FY26: ₹1,485 crore)

Core Gas Transmission Business Remains Strong

Operationally, GAIL registered growth in its core natural gas transmission business and liquid hydrocarbon production.

During Q1 FY27 compared with Q4 FY26:

  • Natural Gas Transmission: Increased to 122.36 MMSCMD from 118.99 MMSCMD
  • Gas Marketing Volume: Declined to 93.82 MMSCMD from 101.88 MMSCMD
  • Liquid Hydrocarbon (LHC) Production: Rose to 232 TMT from 194 TMT
  • Polymer Production: Declined sharply to 51 TMT from 153 TMT
  • LPG Transmission: Marginally declined to 1,077 TMT from 1,114 TMT

According to the company, higher gas transmission and LHC production highlighted the resilience of its core infrastructure business, while weaker gas marketing and polymer volumes reflected disruptions caused by external geopolitical developments.

Capex Crosses ₹6,100 Crore in First Quarter

GAIL continued to invest aggressively in infrastructure expansion during the quarter.

The company incurred a capital expenditure of ₹6,176 crore during Q1 FY27 against its planned annual capex of around ₹11,500 crore, reflecting progress on its long-term growth strategy.

CMD Highlights Resilience Amid West Asia Crisis

Commenting on the quarterly performance, Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Gupta said FY2026-27 began amid significant volatility triggered by the West Asia crisis, which affected certain business volumes.

He said GAIL successfully managed the disruptions through portfolio flexibility and spot sourcing while continuing to meet customer requirements and support India’s energy security.

According to him, the company’s diversified business portfolio helped it navigate the challenging environment effectively while maintaining a resilient supply chain.

PNGRB Clears Three Major LPG Pipeline Projects

GAIL also announced that the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has granted authorisation for three new LPG pipeline projects:

  • Jhansi–Sitarganj Pipeline
  • Cherlapalli–Nagpur Pipeline
  • Shikrapur–Hubli–Goa Pipeline

The three pipelines will have a combined length of more than 1,800 kilometres and involve an estimated investment of around ₹6,700 crore, to be executed over the next three years.

The projects are expected to strengthen LPG transportation infrastructure and improve energy logistics across multiple states.

Konkan LNG Becomes Wholly Owned Subsidiary

The company further informed that Konkan LNG Limited (KLL) has become a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL following an order by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

The move is expected to strengthen GAIL’s LNG business and further consolidate its position in India’s natural gas value chain.
