New Delhi: India-Germany ties have reached an all-time high, according to German Ambassador Philipp Ackermann. He said both countries are expanding cooperation in renewable energy, defence, trade, technology, and investment. The ambassador also expressed confidence that the proposed India-EU FTA could be signed soon, opening new opportunities for businesses and strengthening the long-term strategic partnership between India and Germany.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Ambassador Philipp Ackermann said India and Germany have become closer every year. He described the bilateral relationship as one of the strongest in recent decades, with cooperation expanding across political, economic, strategic, scientific, and environmental sectors.

Ackermann added that Germany has proudly supported India’s green transition and is now learning from India’s rapidly growing private sector and innovation ecosystem.
India-EU Free Trade Agreement Could Transform Business
One of the biggest highlights of the discussion was the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The German ambassador called the agreement a “game changer” for businesses and investors. According to him, once signed, the FTA is expected to:
- Increase bilateral trade between India and Europe.
- Encourage higher German investment in India.
- Improve market access for businesses.
- Strengthen manufacturing and technology partnerships.
- Create new employment and economic opportunities.
He also said the agreement is less controversial in the European Parliament than many previous trade deals and expressed optimism that implementation could begin after the signing process.
