What Is a Uniform Civil Code
A Uniform Civil Code (UCC) means one common set of civil laws for all citizens in matters such as:
- Marriage
- Divorce
- Maintenance
- Adoption
- Inheritance
- Succession
At present, many of these issues are governed by different personal laws based on religion and community traditions. A UCC aims to bring uniformity in these areas.
