Deployment Plan: 45 Electric Buses Across Lucknow and Noida

Under the new rollout plan, the 45 electric buses will be distributed as follows:

  • 11 electric buses will operate in Lucknow
  • 34 electric buses will operate in Noida, Greater Noida, and YEIDA region

Focus on Connectivity to Noida International Airport, Jewar

A key objective of the project is to enhance public transport access to the Noida International Airport, located in Jewar.

The buses will operate across Noida, Greater Noida, and the YEIDA region, ensuring smooth and affordable last-mile connectivity for passengers, airport staff, and nearby industrial zones.

Inauguration of Noida Electric Bus Depot

Alongside the bus flag-off, the government also inaugurated the new Noida Electric Bus Depot, which is expected to streamline:

  • Charging infrastructure for electric buses
  • Maintenance and operational efficiency
  • Route management across the NCR region

This depot is considered a critical infrastructure step to support the expansion of electric mobility in western Uttar Pradesh.

Government’s Push for Green and Modern Public Transport

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is moving toward modern, world-class infrastructure with improved road and air connectivity.

He stated that the state now has a road network of nearly four lakh kilometers, which has significantly strengthened connectivity across districts and industrial corridors.

The introduction of electric buses is part of the government’s broader push toward:

  • Clean and pollution-free transport
  • Electric mobility expansion
  • Improved urban public transport systems
  • Sustainable infrastructure development

UPSRTC’s Growing Electric Bus Network

The electric buses introduced under UPSRTC will operate in 17 municipal corporations across Uttar Pradesh, where around 700 electric buses are already running or planned.

The current expansion is expected to further strengthen urban mobility and reduce dependence on conventional fuel-based public transport.

Political Leadership and Event Participation

The flag-off event was attended by senior state ministers, including:

  • Suresh Kumar Khanna
  • Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi
  • Dayashankar Singh

Their presence highlighted the government’s focus on expanding infrastructure and improving urban transport systems across the state.

The launch of 45 electric buses and the inauguration of the Noida Electric Bus Depot mark a significant step in Uttar Pradesh’s push toward sustainable urban transport. With improved connectivity to Jewar’s upcoming international airport and expansion across the NCR region, the initiative is expected to enhance last-mile connectivity while supporting the state’s green mobility goals.
